Interview with Addison Moore, Author of Forbidden Kisses

Tell us a little bit about your new release, Forbidden Kisses.

Forbidden Kisses is a story of two college students who absolutely abhor one another then find out that their parents are set to marry. Scarlett and Rex have a fun and wild ride on their journey to discover more about one another—and maybe to find true love.

What’s the last book you read?

The last book I read was Truly, Madly, Guilty by Liane Moriarty.

Who is your favorite couple from literature?

Odysseus and Penelope. Neither time nor war could stop those two!

Where did you write Forbidden Kisses? (your couch, a coffee shop, a bar... hey - we won't judge)

All of the above! I mostly write at the kitchen table. (sorry family!) This space has been claimed and taken over for years.

Pretend you qualified for the Olympics this year. What sport would you compete in?

The decathalon. Writing is sort of like an entire array of grueling track and field events.

How do you like to spend a rainy day?

Reading! I love any excuse to curl up with a good book but there's something about a rainy day that really hits the literary mark.

What scene in Forbidden Kisses was your favorite to write?

For sure the first night at the cabin with both families. I loved the banter between Rex and Scarlett. Is there anything better than some sexy banter?

Do you have a motto, quote or philosophy you live by?

Keep breathing! Trust me, that one is sort of necessary in all aspects of life. 😉

Addison Moore is the author of the new book Forbidden Kisses.

Interview with Kelly Jamieson, Author of Body Shot

What can you tell us about your new release, Body Shot?

I’m so excited about Body Shot! It’s the first book in my Last Shot series, which features three former Navy SEALs who have started new lives as owners of Conquistadors, a tequila bar in San Diego. They’ve all had to conquer huge obstacles in their lives, and now they are “brothers”, the family none of them had growing up. Beck, the hero of Body Shot, grew up with more money than he could ever spend, but with parents who mourned the loss of their other son and valued wealth and prestige more than they valued Beck. He became a SEAL to prove to himself he was worth something. When he meets Hayden, a buttoned-up scientist, he has to overcome the biggest challenge of all—opening his heart to love.

Since your past few releases have all been sports romances, was it exciting to venture into another side of romance with Body Shot?

I do love my hockey guys, but it’s been fun writing this series, set in sunny California with sun, sand, surf and yummy cocktails, instead of snowy Chicago and hockey arenas! My characters get to do fun things like stand-up paddle boarding, exploring ocean caves and sky diving. And of course…tequila! Tequila is fun.

Which of your series was the most fun to write?

Oh that’s so tough to answer! The one I’m working on is always the most fun. I love California with all the sun and beaches. I’ve written quite a few books set there, and it’s always fun to “go back” and explore new places and experiences.

Is there any character from your books who you'd like to meet in real life?

Oh yeah, I want to meet Beck from Body Shot! Beard, tattoos, man bun and muscles…he’s an adrenaline junkie who jumps out of planes but plays guitar, sips fine tequila and would do anything for the two men he now considers his family. He’s a super sexy hero, so yeah, I’d like to meet him. 🙂

If you could spend a day in any of your literary worlds, what would you do?

I’d love to spend a day at Conquistadors…hanging with the guys, sipping fine tequila, having some laughs. The beach and ocean are right across the street… palm trees, sun, salty breezes… I’d love to go there!

What scene in Body Shot was your favorite to write?

The stand up paddle board scene was super fun. I’ve done SUP, but not at night (it’s now on my list to do should I ever have the chance!) and it was cool putting myself there, imagining the lighted boards on the ocean and how magical that would be.

If you could give any advice to aspiring writers, what would it be?

Read a lot and write a lot. Learn your craft. Learn how to tell a great story, and learn how to tell it well.

Kelly Jamieson is the author of the new book Body Shot.

Interview with Mya O'Malley, Author of Maggie

What can you tell us about your new release, Maggie?

Maggie is my eighth novel. I’m so excited to share this story with my readers because I felt so emotionally connected with my characters while writing. This contemporary paranormal mystery tells the story of a writer, Naomi, and her struggle to uncover what really happened to Maggie, a woman who died under suspicious circumstances-and who currently haunts Naomi. Naomi must try to solve the mystery of Maggie’s death while navigating the tangled web of dating. Will she be able to write Maggie’s story and finally give Maggie the peace she deserves?

What or who inspired you to become an author?

From the time I was small, I loved writing. I would create countless stories for my grandmother. I found out later that she had kept every single story! As a young adult, I wrote some poetry and then focused on college. I earned an undergraduate degree in special education and a master’s degree in reading and literacy. I work full time as special education teacher, a job I love. Writing has always been my calling, so I decided to try to start my first novel during a break from work. That’s one of the great perks of teaching, the time off helped me to write my first novel and many others that followed. My daughter always inspires me to continue writing and her love of the paranormal has definitely influenced me to write in that particular genre. Other published genres include contemporary romance and young adult.

What books are currently on your night stand?

Right now, I have so many books waiting to be read, I just wish I had the time to finish them all! I can’t wait to read the latest, Truly, Madly, Guilty from Liane Moriarty and Brenda Novak’s The Secret Sister and The Secrets She Kept. I just finished reading several novels, which I thoroughly enjoyed, by co-authors Liz Fenton and Lisa Steinke.

What’s rocking your world this month?

Let’s start with talking about how happy I am to be home from work for the summer! I love spending time with my family and friends, catching up on my reading and devoting time to my writing. I can’t forget to mention that one of my favorite Showtime series, Ray Donovan, is back for season 4. Love that show. Did I mention I love being home for the summer? 🙂

What’s your favorite thing about paranormal romance?

I love the fact that anything can happen and that otherworldly boundaries are crossed. There’s something so magical and beautiful about paranormal romance. And mystery, I love the mystery that ties into the paranormal world and all of the endless possibilities.

If you had an extra hour each day, how would you spend it?

I would the spend time with my daughter and the rest of my family. Also, maybe sneak in some reading time.

What scene in Maggie was your favorite to write?

Oh, definitely the entire ending- from the dramatic plot twist right to the very last sentence. I don’t want to give away the story, but I will say that I was very emotional writing all the components leading to the conclusion of Maggie.

Do you have a motto, quote or philosophy you live by?

There are so many meaningful quotes out there, but one of my favorites is: “You didn’t come this far to only come this far.” I find this quote to be so motivating and inspiring. It’s easy to start a dream and then lose sight of it. What’s challenging is the perseverance it takes to keep reaching for your goal to make it a reality.
