Pretty Little Liars fans get ready to read your next favorite book. Emancipated by M.G. Reyes is all of the edgy drama that we love in a YA novel, so we reached out to learn more:
EMANCIPATED is a story about what happens when six very different teenagers move into a beach house together after emancipation from their parents. "The bad boy, the good girl, the diva, the hustler, the rocker, and the nerd. Six teens legally liberated from parental control for six different reasons, but all with one thing in common: something to hide."
Over the series mysteries will unravel, secrets will be disclosed and the past will catch up with some of the characters with cataclysmic consequences for all six teenagers.
Well, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, obviously. I'd be ever so good too, and only take modest amounts of everything yummy.
Story. Wish I could say otherwise but it's just the way I am. I live for stories - mine and other people's.

A Crowded Hour with William by Richmal Crompton. She wrote lots of books about William Brown and that's one of the funniest. It still makes me laugh so hard I can hardly get through reading it to my kids.

Probably one of Candace's snarky comebacks, to be honest. I'd wanted to make her a super-foul-mouthed diva. I've met a few people who work in television and also some actors and for some reason they're the sweariest people I know! But the YA audience for EMANCIPATED meant I really had to pull back on that. So I decided that given that she's a Shakespeare fangirl, she's got a thing for Elizabethan curses of the type that Shakespeare used. She's a down-to-earth type of girl when all is said and done, but she does have this one quirk.

Like most Christians (I'm a Roman Catholic) I try to live by Jesus's commandment to 'love thy neighbor'. Luckily, my neighbors are lovely! But I think it goes beyond and requires us to put something directly and personally into caring for people who aren't our family, as well as the family. Easier said that done, of course.

JK Rowling is known the world over for her popular and much adored Harry Potter novels. When the final book of the Harry Potter series was released in July 2007, fans shared a collective sense of sadness, marking it the end of an era. The question on everyone’s lips was: “When will JK Rowling release a new book?” Those who thought Rowling’s writing days were over were ecstatic to find that in 2012, the author had been hard at work writing once again. Since then, Rowling has released 3 novels in addition to several short stories through her website, Pottermore. Keep reading to check out what’s been done and what’s yet to come from JK Rowling. The Casual Vacancy
Serving as her first novel since the Harry Potter series, The Casual Vacancy was Rowling’s initial attempt at writing adult literature. Released in July of 2012, it quickly rose to the top of book charts and boasted record sales numbers. The Casual Vacancy is an ambitious novel that looks at local government in modern England, featuring overarching themes of class, poverty, and other social issues.
Cormoran Strike Crime Series
Rowling went in a different direction for her next literary endeavor, writing a crime series under the pen name “Robert Galbraith.” The first novel of the Cormoran Strike series, The Cuckoo’s Calling, was released in April 2013, followed by The Silkworm in June 2014.
It seems that Rowling plans on much more to come in this thrilling series, and her faithful fans can’t wait to see what mystery they get to dive into next!
Continuing the World of Harry Potter
The world of Harry Potter continues on in the series's absence through Rowling’s own Pottermore website. Fans are able to participate in an array of activities, and are given access to short stories featuring some of the books’ more minor characters. After creating an account, users can read stories written by former headmistress Dolores Umbridge (pure evil, by the way) and wizarding crooner Celestina Warbeck.
Also available in the Pottermore Store are books set in Harry Potter’s wizarding world, including Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, Quidditch Through the Ages, and The Tales of Beedle the Bard. These books are written as if they are textbooks for the students at Hogwarts, and provide background knowledge on some of the readers’ favorite topics.
Whether you’re interested in the new stories JK Rowling has to tell or want to continue on in the fantasy world of Harry Potter, it seems she’s got new things coming for everyone. We’ll be keeping an eye out for her new novels and we’ll let you know as soon as a new JK Rowling book is released.

Romance is a polarizing genre. There are two camps: those who love to read romance books and those who judge people for loving to read romance books. Since I am a complicated and dichotomous human (insert teenage angsty "no one understands me" gif), I am both at once. Read Sartre to get the brain churning; read Kinsella for the feels.

If you haven't heard, Sophie Kinsella has a new book called Finding Audrey. It's a departure into the YA genre for her, which is interesting to me because I started reading her books at fourteen. I remember a friend shaking her curls away from her face, reaching into her North Face backpack, and handing me a copy of Can You Keep a Secret with a definitive "Taylor, YOU WILL LOVE THIS." And I did. And I still have that battered copy, 11 years later.
I'm excited to see what Kinsella does with her first true Young Adult novel.
