What's the story behind the story? What inspired you to write this book?
The first fully realized scene of Death came to me when I was nineteen, while listening to a Led Zeppelin song. Music has always been a powerful source of inspiration for me. Sometimes I listen to a single track on repeat until a scene plays vividly in my mind. That moment eventually grew into this novel, and Chapter 14 is named in homage to the song that started it.
With my background in art and design, writing often feels like translating a movie in my mind into words, scene by scene, shot by shot. Stan Lee, particularly his work with Spider-Man, was an early creative influence. Finishing the book brought a long-held dream to life, and I hope it encourages others to tell their own stories.
If you had to pick theme songs for the main characters of your book, what would they be?
Led Zeppelin - Since I’ve Been Loving You.
What scene in your book was your favorite to write?
Chapter 14.
Do you have a motto, quote or philosophy you live by?
“I saw the angel in the marble and carved until I set him free.” — Michelangelo
If you could choose one thing for readers to remember after reading your book, what would it be?
Remember any details from the visions, and you may find relevance and symbolism in the future books.
