First Look At The New Apple Books App

25 Sep 2018

Apple has just released a completely redesigned Apple Books app to make the reading experience even better for its users! We were excited to check it out.

The new app replaces iBooks and is now available for iPhone and iPad users that upgrade to the new iOS 12 operating system.

“Apple Books will inspire a love of reading — it puts a world of books and audiobooks right at your fingertips, whether you want to dive into your favorite story for a couple of minutes or a few hours,” said Eddy Cue, Apple’s senior vice president of Internet Software & Services. “This is our biggest books redesign ever, and we hope this beautiful app inspires both customers and authors alike.”

Once you jump into the new app, you’ll find the Reading Now tab, which is an area used to display what you are currently reading, as well as a discovery tool for you to find new and exciting books you might enjoy. It can even make recommendations based on books you recently finished.

One of the features we are most excited about is the dedicated audiobooks tab. For the first time, iPhone and iPad users can access their library of audiobooks and shop for new ones directly from Apple Books. Readers no longer have to juggle multiple apps at once to access their eBooks and audiobooks. With the new Apple Books app, readers can have all of their digital books in the one place.

When it comes to finding new eBooks and audiobooks, the Apple Books app has made it really simple to find new favorites. The Book Store tab has been improved and offers categories like Top Charts, Staff Picks, Editorial Collections, and Special Offers & Free. In addition to this, the interface now lets you easily swipe between books to make the browsing experience more intuitive.

Lastly, there is the library tab, which lets you peruse your entire collection of books. It even includes a finished section that displays the books you’ve read in a timeline.

The new and improved Apple Books is out now and free for all users of iOS 12. Learn all about the new app here.
