Interview with Lauren Blakely, author of Birthday Suit

What can you tell us about your new release, Birthday Suit?

Birthday Suit will make you crave chocolate!! The heroine is a boutique chocolatier and the hero works at a luxury chocolate company! It's also full of swoons, feels and forbidden love since the hero is in love with his best friend's woman.

If Birthday Suit was turned into a movie, who would you pick to play the main characters?

Leo definitely has the whole dark and brooding look going on, so I'd be happy with Henry Cavill or Penn Badgley. Lulu is a free spirit and I'm thinking Rachel Brosnahan would be fabulous.

What books are currently on your night stand?

I'm reading Melanie Harlow's Only You and I just finished Sally Thorne's newest.

What's your favorite restaurant?

Whatever serves the best desserts! And I tend to LOVE vegetarian restaurants since I can eat anything there!

What is the one movie that you can quote the most?

Raiders of the Lost Ark. I'm just making this up as I go along.

What will your next adventure be?

Sending my son to college in the fall!

What scene in Birthday Suit was your favorite to write?

I was both tortured by and adored writing the scavenger hunt scenes! I had to devise all the clues so it was complicated but so worth it!

What can you tell us about your new release,Caged By Them?

This is the first book in a new Dark MFM Romance series.  This is a standalone full-length novel, but there will be elements of this story that continue throughout the series.  Caged by Them is about a young woman who carves out a place for herself in the world, but has made some mistakes along the way.  She wakes up in a cage, staring at two strangers, and she has no idea why she's there.  Her freedom has a price -- she has to confess her sins.  The problem is, she doesn't know which confession will unlock the cage...

What books are currently on your nightstand?

The Kiss Thief by LJ Shen

Dark Castle by Fawn Bailey/Isabella Starling

The Devil by Ashley Jade

You're hosting a literary dinner party. Which three writers are invited?

Madison Faye, Isabella Starling, Frankie Love

What's on your writing desk?

A Rae Dunn mug that needs to be refilled with something caffeinated.

Where is your happy place? Why does it bring you joy?

Anywhere that I can be alone with my thoughts and let my creativity flow.

What's the best advice you've ever received?

No matter how good you think you are, there's always someone better.  Learn from them.

What scene in Caged By Them was your favorite to write?

“Good girl.” I nodded slowly. “Ask your question.”

“What did I do to you?” She swallowed hard.

“You’ve caused me pain.” I tilted my head to the side.

“How?” She stared at me as she spoke. “How did I cause you pain?”

“That’s another question—and not the one you asked.” I leaned forward. “Do you want the answer to that question bad enough to pay the price?”

“I—I do.” Her hands balled up into fists.

Interview with Ashley Bostock, author of Work For It

What can you tell us about your new release, Work For It?

Work For It has been the most enjoyable book to write so far. I am constantly inspired by the people around me who work out and choose to lead a healthy lifestyle which has changed my lifestyle this past summer. Being a romance writer, I knew I had to incorporate fitness into one of my books.

What or who inspired you to become an author?

I’ve read romance novels since I was 11 years old and after having my kids, I was in a place to focus on books and writing. I had read so many books, I was like, I can do this! Stories came to me and I haven’t stopped writing since.

What's on your top 5 list for the best books you've ever read?

Gone with the wind. Helter Skelter. Fifty Shades of Grey. The Outsiders. The Notebook.

Say you’re the host of a literary talk show. Who would be your first guest? What would you want to ask?

My first guest would be Ann Rule and I’d ask, Can you write a book about The Golden State Killer?

What's your favorite thing about writing?

The freedom to write when I want and things that I want to write.

What is a typical day like for you?

I wake up and sit at my computer and do social media things and check book sales, etc. Then I wake my kids up and get them off to school and then go back to the computer for a few hours to write books. I usually go downstairs and work out around 11 or noon and then afterwards, I either write or do errands.

What scene in Work For It was your favorite to write?

The part where she has to hold the flash light for him in the bathroom.

Do you have a motto, quote or philosophy you live by?

There are sooo many things I have to constantly tell myself. In no particular order:

Be happy. Don’t let others influence you or your thoughts. Be the best you can be. Be kind. Live your best life. Love well. Write naked. Don’t give up. Go after what you want because you might regret it if you don’t. If it’s meant to be, it’ll be. This is your life, do what makes you happy. Fail forward.

Interview with Danielle Norman, author of Until

What can you tell us about your new release, Until?

It's about Stella and let's just say that she is everyone's favorite character. She is who we want to be. She has no filter on her mouth, you could never put her on a speakerphone, and yet she always has her friend's back.

Until is the story of her finally getting her chance with the man she has harbored a crush on. It's a one-night stand. Only to realize that it was probably a mistake since their families are closely interwoven; her brother is married to his cousin, her best friend is married to his brother.

He’s a doctor and she is nurse, they've been sent to a Medical conference in Las Vegas of all places: drinks, long nights, and pent up feelings get the best of them. But, everything changes when a life-altering secret lands in the palm of their hands.

What or who inspired you to become an author?

My husband. I'm a breast cancer survivor, three times. After being diagnosed the second time, I learned that I was not going to be able to return to my former career (veterinary). The doctors had to remove too many lymph nodes and muscle in my left arm (I'm left-handed). My husband looked at me that night and said, "You have twenty-four hours to feel sorry for yourself then you're going to tell me what you want to do with the rest of your life." Giving up was never an option. I chose writing.

What's on your top 5 list for the best books you've ever read?

To me books are measured by memories they evoke-

Anne of Green Gables- because Gilbert was my first swoon-worthy book boyfriend.

Gone With The Wind- For teaching me that heroines can be feisty.

Whitney My Love- my first alpha hero that I remember. It came out the year I got married.

The Tree in the Courtyard- It's a children's book but it was is so emotional, every page touched me. It's about Anne Frank.

Outlander- Who doesn't love Jamie Frazier or a man in a kilt?

Say you’re the host of a literary talk show. Who would be your first guest? What would you want to ask?

Max Monroe. Can we be friends? I mean seriously, everything that I read about them cracks me up and I think, oh girls, we could so get into some trouble.  Even though they are like the age of my kids since they are still having babies, I could seriously hang with them.

What's your favorite thing about writing?

My writing tribe. I have the best support system of writer friends (Jill Bengtsson, Eva Charles, Haylee Thorne, Mia Miller, Sienna Snow, Michelle Windsor, Sonnie Wolf)

What is a typical day like for you?

In my writing office by six a.m or so and then write. Take a break around nine and check emails, social media, and then turn it off and back to writing. I'll take another break at lunch. I do this until I hit my daily word goal or my brain feels fried. Then I'll do other Indie author stuff that I didn't have to do when I was traditionally published (marketing, upload books, covers, editing, etc.).

What scene in Until was your favorite to write?

NOT the sex scenes, I hate writing sex scenes. I swear that someday I'm going to create a chastity belt hot romance series. - Truthfully, there are several small chapters one after another, and I'll sum it up this way: two can keep a secret when one of them is dead. Those were my favorite because I got to bring in so many characters that my fans love. But even if this is the first book that someone is reading, they will get a good sense of who these characters are and will hopefully be intrigued to read their stories.

Do you have a motto, quote or philosophy you live by?

To save time, let's just assume I'm always right. -- Keep your standards high and your heels higher.— Joking aside, my favorite quote comes from Audrey Hepburn, Nothing is impossible, the word itself says, I'm possible.
