Interview with Wilma Pressich, Author of The Seduction

What's the story behind the story? What inspired you to write The Seduction?

The idea for this novel came to me from two sources: a snippet I came across which accredited 33% of the people one came into daily contact with not to be all that well tuned to life, and from my observations which made me believe statistics. The above figure further increases, it seems, when subjects are eradicated from their birthplace, such is the case of Lonia’s mother, a Russian expatriate, hence Lonia the protagonist of my book.

Having lived in a foreign country, Italy in my case, has enabled me to closely observe people of a different social order. And when one becomes part of the choreography, one realizes that the code of behaviour, often judged bizarre or trivial by the foreign onlooker, is merely tribal.

Although the Mediterranean climate is temperate, passions and colours are often tropical. These components determine the quality of space. Not only is there a greater latitude to the terse sky; the air seems denser, language appears at the same time formal and nonsensical. And when people with more than their fair share of adverse psychological legacies get into romantic relationships a tragic-comic blend often ensues.

Of course, mine is not a psychological study of environment but a novel with a delicate erotic component. Humour isn't missing. Delicately sketched it is far from being trite or commonplace.

The first chapter sees an adolescent Lonia in the throes of a mother who increments statistics; in the second we find her mourning her death. Only then does THE SEDUCTION truly spring to life.

Symphonious characters, such as Witches and Poets, insinuate themselves in the pages of my novel but the overwhelming intensity of my protagonists’ involvement soon pushes them out.

I have adopted a polished literally style and deal with the erotic components with the naivete of Lonia.

If you had to pick theme songs for the main characters of The Seduction, what would they be?

For Rodolfo I would choose "The Devil’s Trill", composed by the 18th century musician G. Tartini, after having had a dream in which he sold his soul to the devil who he found sitting at the foot of his bed.

For Lonia, no music surpasses the anaesthetizing quality of Rodolfo’s voice.

And for the emigres, Ivan Rebroff’s Russian folk songs. His four-octave voice well suits the ups and downs of their characters.

What's your favorite genre to read? Is it the same as your favorite genre to write?

I like the classics and anything dealing with all kinds of novelties and information.

What books are on your TBR pile right now?

"Dreams and Visions" by America’s greatest psychic, Edgar Cayce and "Synchronicity" by Jaworski, a subject which was of great interest to Jung.

What scene in your book was your favorite to write?

I always enjoy writing the finale. It’s a little like orchestrating the culmination of an operatic piece.

Do you have any quirky writing habits? (lucky mugs, cats on laps, etc.)

Jotting down notes at all times of day or night.

Do you have a motto, quote, or philosophy you live by?

One learns from both fools and sages.

If you could choose one thing for readers to remember after reading your book, what would it be?

That not all brains are wired the same way.

Interview with Ivy Layne, Author of Broken Heart (The Hearts of Sawyers Bend Book 7)

What's the story behind the story? What inspired you to write Broken Heart (The Hearts of Sawyers Bend Book 7)?

Sterling and Forrest have been a part of the Hearts of Sawyers Bend series since the beginning. They've had a rought start and I had so much fun bringing them back together!

What's your favorite genre to read? Is it the same as your favorite genre to write?

Romantic Suspense!!

What books are on your TBR pile right now?

Right now I'm re-listening to the Codex Alera series by Jim Butcher. It's an amazing mix of fantast, action, intrigue and romance.

What scene in your book was your favorite to write?

It's hard to choose! I had so much fun writing this book, but the first time Sterling decodes a clue was really fun, and I loved writing the ending.

Do you have any quirky writing habits? (lucky mugs, cats on laps, etc.)

Not really, unless lots of coffee counts as a quirk.

Interview with Cate Lane, Author of Perfect Nights (Vice Club Nights Book 3)

What's the story behind the story? What inspired you to write Perfect Nights (Vice Club Nights Book 3)?

I love reading Christmas novellas, so each year I write one as part of the series I released that year. Perfect Nights revisits the couples from the other books and brings together a new couple.

If you had to pick theme songs for the main characters of Perfect Nights (Vice Club Nights Book 3), what would they be?

"Mistletoe" by Justin Bieber (because every romance should include some mistletoe.)

What's your favorite genre to read? Is it the same as your favorite genre to write?

I don't really have a favorite genre but at this time of year it is Christmas novellas all the way.

What books are on your TBR pile right now?

Scrooge by Samantha Skye; A White Christmas by Missy Walker and a lot more.

What scene in your book was your favorite to write?

Probably at the beginning when the MMC helps the FMC who has had a few too many cocktails.

I'd love to have one if it would help my word count.

Interview with Caelin Darkriver, Author of Bond of the Blood Moon (The Cursed Moon Chronicles Book 1)

What's the story behind the story? What inspired you to write Bond of the Blood Moon (The Cursed Moon Chronicles Book 1)?

The idea for Bond of the Blood Moon came to me in a dream—two figures standing under a blood moon, a werewolf on the edge of losing control and a woman who refused to back down. That image stayed with me, and I knew there was a story to tell about love, trust, and redemption. I’ve always been fascinated by duality—light and dark, strength and vulnerability—and werewolves capture that perfectly. Writing this book let me explore what it means to embrace who you are, even when it scares you, and how love can grow stronger in the face of fear and sacrifice. At its heart, it’s a story about fighting for connection, no matter the odds.

If you had to pick theme songs for the main characters of Bond of the Blood Moon (The Cursed Moon Chronicles Book 1), what would they be?

Oh, this is such a fun question! For Kaelen, I’d pick "Animal I Have Become" by Three Days Grace. It captures his internal struggle with his werewolf side and the battle to stay in control while still being true to himself. Plus, it’s got that raw, gritty energy that’s so him.

For Eira, I’d go with "Warrior" by Demi Lovato. She’s got this quiet but fierce strength, and that song reflects her resilience and determination to protect the people she loves—even when she’s scared or facing impossible odds.

What's your favorite genre to read? Is it the same as your favorite genre to write?

I’ve always been drawn to stories with a touch of magic or the supernatural—urban fantasy, paranormal romance, anything that takes the ordinary and layers in something extraordinary. There’s something so captivating about exploring the "what ifs" of a world just like ours but with hidden depths and secrets. It definitely lines up with my favorite genre to write. I love weaving supernatural elements into my stories, especially when they intersect with raw, human emotions like love, fear, and hope. There’s so much room for imagination and for creating characters who feel both larger-than-life and deeply relatable. That balance between the fantastical and the human is where I feel most at home, both as a reader and a writer.

What books are on your TBR pile right now?

Oh, my TBR pile is towering! Right now, I’ve got Crescent City: House of Flame and Shadow by Sarah J. Maas queued up—it’s impossible to resist her mix of intricate worlds and deep character emotions. I’m also itching to dive into The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue by V.E. Schwab; I’ve heard so much about its gorgeous prose and unique premise. On the darker side, The Last House on Needless Street by Catriona Ward is calling my name—I love a good psychological twist with a bit of eerie atmosphere. And for something lighter, The Love Hypothesis by Ali Hazelwood is in the mix because sometimes you just need a warm, fuzzy romance to balance things out. It’s a mix of genres, but that’s how I like it—something for every mood!

What scene in your book was your favorite to write?

Chapter 7: Secrets of the Shadowlands was one of my favorite scenes to write because it’s such a turning point for Kaelen and Eira. For the first time, Kaelen opens up about his painful exile and the toll of the curse, revealing a deeply vulnerable side beneath his stoic exterior. It was powerful to show him sharing this burden and for Eira to see the man behind the beast, softening her resolve and sparking a growing connection between them. The Blackthorn Ruins, with their desolation and haunting beauty, mirrored Kaelen’s inner struggle perfectly, making this moment feel raw, intimate, and deeply transformative for both characters.

Do you have any quirky writing habits? (lucky mugs, cats on laps, etc.)

Absolutely! I can’t write without a big mug of tea by my side—it’s my go-to for staying focused and inspired. I have a favorite blend, a smoky Earl Grey, that feels especially fitting when writing dark and atmospheric scenes. I also like to light a candle with a woodsy or musky scent to set the tone—it helps me feel like I’m stepping into the world I’m creating. And if I’m really stuck on a scene, I’ll take a walk outside; something about fresh air always gets the ideas flowing.

Do you have a motto, quote, or philosophy you live by?

Absolutely—one of my favorite mottos is: "Embrace the shadows; they make the light brighter." It’s a reminder that life, much like the stories I write, is made up of contrasts. The challenges and darker moments shape us, and they make the triumphs and joys all the more meaningful. It’s a philosophy I carry into my writing and my life—finding beauty and strength in every part of the journey, even the hard ones.

If you could choose one thing for readers to remember after reading your book, what would it be?

If there’s one thing I’d love readers to take away, it’s the idea that love—whether romantic, platonic, or self-love—has the power to heal even the deepest wounds. Kaelen and Eira’s journey is full of struggles, but at its heart, it’s about finding strength in connection and embracing the parts of ourselves we’re most afraid of. If readers walk away feeling inspired to face their own challenges with a little more courage and compassion, then I’ve done my job as a storyteller.

Interview with Lorraine Evanoff, Author of Walking the Cat (A Louise Moscow Novel Book 4)

What's the story behind the story? What inspired you to write Walking the Cat (A Louise Moscow Novel Book 4)?

My spy thriller series' title character, Louise Moscow, is a feisty forensic analyst who solves international financial crimes. After years of solving "banker's grave" mysteries – real life murders of prominent international bankers – she is now retired. In book #4 of the series, I wanted to give Louise Moscow the opportunity to indulge in one of her passions, based on one of my own life passions, fashion. What would it be like to have an all-access pass to Paris Fashion Week? What if a murder occurred during Fashion Week? Would Louise Moscow be able to say no to anyone who needed her help solving the case?

If you had to pick theme songs for the main characters of Walking the Cat (A Louise Moscow Novel Book 4), what would they be?

"Ramble On" by Led Zeppelin, "Ruby Tuesday" by The Rolling Stones, "I Was Brought to My Senses" by Sting, "So What’cha Want" by The Beastie Boys, "Ocean Eyes" by Billie Eilish, "Vogue" by Madonna, "Same Guy" by Jack Harlow, "No More Drama" by Mary J. Blige, "Cause We Ended As Lovers" by Jeff Beck, "Bluesette" by Toots Thielemans, "The Captain of My Heart" by Double, "Year of the Cat" by Al Stewart, "Knocks Me Off My Feet" by Stevie Wonder, "Afternoon" by Pat Metheny, "True" by Spandau Ballet, "West End Girls" by Pet Shop Boys, "Kiss Of Life" by Sade, and "Breathe Me" by Sia,

What's your favorite genre to read? Is it the same as your favorite genre to write?

Mystery and Thriller are my favorite genres to read and to write.

What books are on your TBR pile right now?

The Last Door by Sheila Lowe; The Plot Against America by Philip Roth; The Waiting by Michael Connelly; The Ministry of Time by Kaliane Bradley.

What scene in your book was your favorite to write?

The scene in the cafe between Toulouse and Louise, where they finally confront each other over breakfast. It's around page 69.

Do you have any quirky writing habits? (lucky mugs, cats on laps, etc.)

Meditation and yoga before I begin writing, classical Mozart for focusing and my music playlist while I write.

Do you have a motto, quote, or philosophy you live by?

Stay present.

If you could choose one thing for readers to remember after reading your book, what would it be?

Everything is connected.

Interview with Camilla Taipalvesi, Author of Lady Clementine and the Tears of Hathor (The Extraordinary Treasure Hunters Book 1)

What's the story behind the story? What inspired you to write Lady Clementine and the Tears of Hathor (The Extraordinary Treasure Hunters Book 1)?

I've always loved treasure hunting stories in movies, TV, and video games. In 2022, as I was again rewatching The Mummy and playing one of the Assassin's Creed games, I started to wonder if there were treasure hunting books with strong female main characters. When I couldn’t think of any, the idea of Clementine began to form in my mind. Around that time, I was also deeply immersed in historical romance (I think Bridgerton season 2 had just come out and I loved it so much) that I wanted to infuse the book with a historical romance vibe, in addition to the fantasy and treasure hunting elements. One of the ARC readers described my book as "Lara Croft, Bridgerton edition," which made me smile, so I think my inspirations were clear to readers too!

If you had to pick theme songs for the main characters of Lady Clementine and the Tears of Hathor (The Extraordinary Treasure Hunters Book 1), what would they be?

"Dancing With Our Hands Tied" or maybe "Fearless" by Taylor Swift.

What's your favorite genre to read? Is it the same as your favorite genre to write?

Fantasy has always been my favorite genre and now I'm a fantasy author!

What books are on your TBR pile right now?

So, so many! Too many to list here but the most anticipated one is Onyx Storm by Rebecca Yarros which is out in January.

What scene in your book was your favorite to write?

No spoilers, but my favorite scene is an intense action scene near the end of the book. The traps create a very tight spot for the characters, and it was very fun to build that scene from different perspectives. It was fascinating to explore what the characters are doing and feeling while they try to solve a life-threatening puzzle, as well as how the actual puzzle works.

Do you have any quirky writing habits? (lucky mugs, cats on laps, etc.)

Woolly socks, I have to keep my feet warm or I can't focus!

Do you have a motto, quote, or philosophy you live by?

I tend to say to myself "tomorrow could be a better day". It helps to stay motivated and works as a comforting sentence when there are bad days.

If you could choose one thing for readers to remember after reading your book, what would it be?

To download the bonus epilogue! There's a strong hint about...more fantasy elements coming soon!
