Interview with William Bernhardt, Author of Partners in Crime

10 Oct 2023

What’s the story behind the story? What inspired you to write Partners in Crime?

My son suggested that I create an “Avengers-level-teamup” with my lead characters from two series.

If you had to pick theme songs for the main characters of Partners in Crime, what would they be?

Ben Kincaid is I Will Survive.

Daniel Pike is Everybody Hurts

What’s your favorite genre to read? Is it the same as your favorite genre to write?

I tend to read older books rather than my contemporaries. My Masters is in Victorian Literature.

What books are on your TBR pile right now?

Summer Lightning by PG Woodhouse.

What scene in your book was your favorite to write?

Ben and Dan on a cross-country road trip. Ben is cranky and Dan is suppressing panic. Fun stuff.

Do you have any quirky writing habits? (lucky mugs, cats on laps, etc.)

My cat Bustopher is usually in my lap, but I’m not dependent upon it.

Do you have a motto, quote, or philosophy you live by?

You cannot fail if you refuse to quit.

If you could choose one thing for readers to remember after reading your book, what would it be?

Maybe lawyers aren’t all bad.
