Interview with Alice Ward, author of SEAL’d Heart

15 Jun 2017

What can you tell us about your new release, SEAL’d Heart?

SEAL’d Heart was a joy to write. I tackled some very difficult topics such as PTSD and I am so very heartened to see from reviews that it was received very well. Many have said that they could relate and this is a huge compliment to me.

What’s on your writing desk?

A framed photo of my husband and a framed photo of a dog I had when I was a child. Often, a coffee mug half full of cold sludge. A notepad with lots of my story idea scribbling.

What’s your favorite thing about writing?

Everything! But if I have to choose just one thing… the time I spend plotting in my head. That’s when the characters really start speaking to me.

If you could invent anything, what would it be

A machine that helped me pull the stories from my head more quickly. I have so many of them!

How do you like to spend a rainy day?

Writing, of course!

What scene in SEAL’d Heart was your favorite to write?

Oh, there were so many scenes that brought me to tears as I wrote them so I’ll pick something happier. It was such fun revisiting some of the characters from my The Beasts of Baseball series. They made a cameo appearance in SEAL’d Heart.

Do you have a motto, quote or philosophy you live by?

Be fearless in the pursuit of what sets your soul on fire. This strikes such a chord in me. I wish I knew who coined it.
