Interview of A.M. Madden, Author of Glass Ceilings

27 May 2016

What can you tell us about your new release, Glass Ceilings?

Glass Ceilings holds a special place in my heart. Nick and Angela’s story takes the reader on a journey of truth. Love isn’t always cut and dried, easy, or predictable. Sometimes true love needs forgiveness and absolution in order to survive. Glass Ceilings forces the question, could you truly forgive someone and not have it affect your feelings for them?

What’s the last book you read?

I just read Mr. O by Lauren Blakely. Great read.

What or who inspired you to become an author?

My love for a great romance. I am a self proclaimed romance junkie. I can’t get enough of it whether in books or in movies or even in real life stories, aka reality TV. (Yes, I’m a bachelor junkie too!). I absolutely love hearing about finding love.

What makes your world go round? Why does it bring you joy?

My family. My husband and sons are the center of my world. And now, my new career. I’m not a writer, I’m a reader. Having this opportunity to tell my stories is an absolute dream come true for me. My family has been so supportive throughout this process, and it fuels me to continue on with my dream. I may have found it later in life, but now that I have I thank God every day for these blessings.

What’s the last song that was stuck in your head?

Thunder Road by Bruce Springsteen, mainly because I’m listening to it as I type. But then again, I’m always listening to one of his albums. #JerseyGirl to the core.

What’s the best thing about a story with a happily-ever-after?

As a reader, for me it’s being left with so much hope. I love that feeling. As an romance writer, it’s a sense of accomplishment. Does that sound crazy? With each HEA I write, I feel more complete as a romance author.

What scene in Glass Ceilings was your favorite to write?

The New Year’s Eve kiss. It’s the very moment things change for Nick and Angela, and it’s that moment when you can feel everything Nick is feeling as he takes her lips for the first time. It’s also a perfect first kiss.

Do you have a motto, quote or philosophy you live by?

Things happen for a reason. I was laid off from my job of 24 years and that’s what started my journey as a writer. It was simultaneously the most terrifying and the best thing that ever happened to me. I’m not sure if that life-altering event hadn’t happened if I’d be where I am now.
