Interview with Irene Lawless, Author of Cherry on Top

What's the story behind the story? What inspired you to write Cherry on Top?

My husband, daughter, and I took an impromptu road trip to Montana in August 2020 - an escape from the insanity of that year. On our way to Glacier National Park, we drove along the eastern side of Flathead Lake and stopped at a small roadside stand on a cherry orchard.

While munching on the sweetest cherries I had ever tasted, I knew I’d found the perfect setting for a romance novel. I wanted to write a story for Zach, who had been introduced in Montana Sunrise, and suddenly had a place for him. Chloe soon followed.

If you had to pick theme songs for the main characters of Cherry on Top, what would they be?

There was so much growth for Chloe in this book. Kacey Musgrave’s Butterflies seemed to personify her journey with Zach. He really brought out the best in her.

What's your favorite genre to read? Is it the same as your favorite genre to write?

I truly love all romance genres, but paranormal romance is probably my favorite. I love to write contemporary, usually western or straight contemporary with a paranormal twist.

What books are on your TBR pile right now?

There are so many on that list at this moment, but really it’s anything by Juliette Cross, Lucy Score, or Sherilee Gray for now.

What scene in your book was your favorite to write?

I think I laughed the entire time I was writing the book signing scene in the final chapter. It was so much fun to have Chloe face her demons, while all her friends and family were supporting her in an interventionist sort of way.

Do you have any quirky writing habits? (lucky mugs, cats on laps, etc.)

I'm very routine oriented and need a designated quiet writing space to get the creative juices flowing. At home, it's my desk, cluttered with grammar reference books, various glass hearts, and good luck charms. It’s where I’ve done my best work.

Do you have a motto, quote, or philosophy you live by?

When your goals seem overwhelming, focus on baby steps. Any forward progress is forward progress. Stick to it and you’ll achieve your goals before you know it.

If you could choose one thing for readers to remember after reading your book, what would it be?

After reading Cherry on Top, I want my readers to know that romance is real and true love really does exist.

Interview with Maggie Carpenter, Author of Rough Rancher

What's the story behind the story? What inspired you to write Rough Rancher?

I'm a horse person. I own a beautiful mare and I'm with her every day. I've seen the magic horses can weave in a person’s life, and the idea of a bad boy being turned into a big-hearted cowboy has always appealed to me. And of course, I love cowboys. Many speak horse.

If you had to pick theme songs for the main characters of Rough Rancher, what would they be?

If I had to pick a theme song for Callum, it would be Jason Aldean’s A Girl Like You. That’s how Callum feels about Kelly. For Kelly. Rise - by Caroline Jones. In spite of her mother’s determination to see her in a certain kind of life, Kelly blazes her own trail and finds her true self at the ranch with Callum.

What's your favorite genre to read? Is it the same as your favorite genre to write?

All genres of romance, but I do love suspense. And Cowboys of course!

What books are on your TBR pile right now?

My TBR list? Sadly I don’t have one. As a full time author I have no time to read, only to write.

What scene in your book was your favorite to write?

Besides the hot sex scenes, there are several moments that are dear to my heart. When Kelly and Callum find each other all over again. Also, at the end with Matt at the top of Line Pine Hill. He’s a secondary character, and I can’t say anything specific about that or it will be a spoiler, but I was crying when I wrote it.

Do you have any quirky writing habits? (lucky mugs, cats on laps, etc.)

My quirky writing habit? I like to start with a cup of tea at my side, and my dog lying next to me.

Do you have a motto, quote, or philosophy you live by?

My motto is about animals. Be kind. Horses are big and powerful, but incredibly sensitive. Be kind to all the beautiful creatures that share our world. I’m sure there’s a song there.

If you could choose one thing for readers to remember after reading your book, what would it be?

One thing to remember after reading my book? There are moments when life throws us curve balls, but there are usually answers if we still our minds and open our hearts. In other words, keep the faith and believe in your dreams like Kelly, Callum, and Matt. On a simpler note, the animals, especially Waggles. He was inspired by a real life Labrador called Wagner.

Interview with Lucian Bane, Author of Butterfly and Atlas

What's the story behind the story? What inspired you to write Butterfly and Atlas-Royal Bastards MC, Newark, NJ Chapter?

I wanted to bring a hero with a split personality to the MC genre.

What's your favorite genre to read? Is it the same as your favorite genre to write?

I love erotic thrillers in just about every genre.

What books are on your TBR pile right now?

I'd like to read Nikki Landis RBMC books with the paranormal twists.

What scene in your book was your favorite to write?

The one with Handy. He's the hero's left hand and has a rebellious mind of his own, and is now in love with the heroine, Butterfly. He's very protective of her and will punch his other personalities in the face if they do wrong which is fun to write about.

Do you have any quirky writing habits? (lucky mugs, cats on laps, etc.)

I like to listen to modern Beethoven renditions when writing anything complex.

Do you have a motto, quote, or philosophy you live by?

You can't dominate anything until you learn how to submit everything.

If you could choose one thing for readers to remember after reading your book, what would it be?

That no matter how bad a situation seems, there's always hope with love.
