Romantasy and rom-coms! And they are my favorite to write as well!

Interview with Lana Stone, Author of Mr. Casually Cruel (The Billionaires of New York Book 4)

What's the story behind the story? What inspired you to write Mr. Casually Cruel (The Billionaires of New York Book 4)?

I generally write books that I would like to read myself. In this case, I was interested in a male protagonist who is not only aggressive in the business world but also has a very physical side, which he lives out in martial arts. And so, Nate was born.

If you had to pick theme songs for the main characters of Mr. Casually Cruel (The Billionaires of New York Book 4), what would they be?

Ava: Livingston - Last Man Standing. Nate: K.Flay - Can’t Sleep.

What's your favorite genre to read? Is it the same as your favorite genre to write?

I love reading and writing about aloof, dominant men who find their happily ever after at the end of the book and get a lot of steamy scenes in between.

What books are on your TBR pile right now?

Carnage, His Demands and The Secret Fiancée.

What scene in your book was your favorite to write?

In my favorite scene, Ava gets boxing lessons from Nate but then things escalate quickly.

Do you have any quirky writing habits? (lucky mugs, cats on laps, etc.)

I create a separate playlist for each chapter I write. Also, I can only write on my beat-up 15-dollar keyboard, on which not a single letter is visible. But even if you could still see the letters, Shadow-Noodle, one of my cats, would cover them up because she's always half-lying on my hands when I write.

Do you have a motto, quote, or philosophy you live by?

Every day I try to be a little better than yesterday.

If you could choose one thing for readers to remember after reading your book, what would it be?

I'd love for them to remember that tummy tingle they felt when Ava and Nate kissed for the first time. That very special tingle in your stomach that you only feel when everything is right, even when there's chaos all around you.

Interview with Aaron and Allen Hillsbery, Authors of Worlds of Eternity

What's the story behind the story? What inspired you to write Worlds of Eternity?

First off, we'd like to say thank you for allowing us to do this interview questionnaire. I'm sure some have noticed there are two authors for "Worlds of Eternity". The reason is we are twin brothers, always have been together our entire life. The idea behind the book started off as a tiny seed from a dream one of us had. From there, we bounced ideas off of each other and the story, its universe, eventually grew over the years.

If you had to pick theme songs for the main characters of Worlds of Eternity, what would they be?

Aaron: We don't really have a specific theme song for our characters. However, we've always imagined key scenes in our book that would match perfectly with certain songs or soundtracks.

Allen: It does help having a playlist to listen to. While creating or writing, it can motivate and inspire, to bring the scene more to life.

What's your favorite genre to read? Is it the same as your favorite genre to write?

Allen: Of course, definitely. "Worlds of Eternity" is a blend of fantasy & sci-fi. And I have always enjoyed reading those two genres the most.

Aaron: Write what you know. That can relate to your own life or your imaginative one. If you have a plethora of knowledge in a subject, use it to your advantage, especially in writing.

What books are on your TBR pile right now?

Aaron: I started reading the Wheel of Time series again, having never completed it after Robert Jordan passed. So, I will most likely be occupied with the entire set for a good while.

Allen: I have read most, if not all, Michael Crichton novels. I usually rely on his books when I need a good read to keep me interested and entertained. While choosing our writing style, we were heavily inspired by Mr. Crichton. Thus, why we decided on naming our main character after him.

What scene in your book was your favorite to write?

Allen: I would say the scene when Michael leaves Earth for the first time. The book has so far taken place in a modern setting. Then, the reader learns that traveling the universe isn't done by conventional means. It's a great revelation that sets the mood for the rest of the book.

Aaron: Chapter 40, absolutely. It's the longest and most action-packed chapter. Everything builds up to this moment where the protagonists and antagonists clash in a challenging duel. It was indeed a lot of fun to write!

Do you have any quirky writing habits? (lucky mugs, cats on laps, etc.)

Aaron: Listening to music while writing, mostly rock. I can't have any television shows or movies on, though. It's impossible to write with other dialogue in the background.

Allen: Drinking iced coffee before writing. It helps stimulate the brain and get those creative juices flowing.

Do you have a motto, quote, or philosophy you live by?

Allen: Any of our philosophies you will find in the book and future books. I feel that the only way to make realistic characters is if they share a bit of the author's beliefs and ideals.

Aaron: It's true. The best thing you can do is put a little of yourself into your characters. Plus, the story we are trying to tell isn't good vs evil. It's not that simple, just like life.

If you could choose one thing for readers to remember after reading your book, what would it be?

Aaron: Please make sure to visit our website. It's a great guide to understanding more of our universe. Also, plenty of art and description to help fill in the missing details. And most importantly, there is a glossary!

Allen: There is a lot more to the "Worlds of Eternity" series to enjoy in the future. We have plenty of books in mind and we just ask for our fans to be patient. If you have any questions, or just want to discuss our book, send us a message. We'd like to hear from our readers. Thank you!

Interview with KD Pryor, Author of The Dreammasters (Of Gods and Monsters Book 1)

What's the story behind the story? What inspired you to write The Dreammasters (Of Gods and Monsters Book 1)?

Travel, myth, and magic combine to inspire my writing. Ireland and Irish myths inspired my current series. I’ve traveled to Ireland many times, and my husband and I lived in Galway for two years. The inspiration for “The Dreammasters” came to me while living in Ireland during take-off on a flight from Dublin bound for Lisbon. I’d put my head back as the plane began its ascent and an idea popped into my head about particular people, specific women, who could change things via their dreams. I started writing the book in Ireland. I’d been reading Irish fairy tales and Celtic Mythology. It was a natural step to connect the women who changed reality via their dreams, The Dreammasters, to the Celtic goddess of dreams, Caer Ibormeith.

What's your favorite genre to read? Is it the same as your favorite genre to write?

I love reading suspenseful books that keep me on the edge of my seat. I enjoy a complex plot filled with twists, a mystery to unravel, and an unexpected ending. I also love reading in a series, although I have several favorite books by authors who write stand-alone stories. I don’t exclusively read books within the paranormal women’s fiction genre, but it’s a genre I enjoy reading. The books do have twists, thrills and of course, supernatural suspense.

What books are on your TBR pile right now?

The books on my TBR pile include: The Homecoming by Kate Morton; The Nature of the Beast by Louise Penny (and all the rest of the books in her Inspector Gamache series); Mom of the Chosen One by DM Fike; The Midwitch Two by DJ Bowman-Smith; A Genie’s New Start by Sammi Mason.

What scene in your book was your favorite to write?

It’s very difficult to pick a favorite scene. One of my favorite scenes to write happens early in the story when Aisling awakens to a phone call the morning after her husband has left her. In the call, and her subsequent visit to the hospital, she learns her husband has been killed in a way hauntingly like the dream she had the night before. This prompts her to travel to Ireland to discover the power of her dreams. Another favorite scene to write was Aisling’s first Dreammaster training session when she discovers her place within the magic of the Otherworld.

Do you have any quirky writing habits? (lucky mugs, cats on laps, etc.)

I prefer to write early in the day after my morning meditation. I do have a favorite writing mug and it’s filled with coffee to get me going.

Do you have a motto, quote, or philosophy you live by?

Writing is work and I find I do my work best when I write every day, preferably in the morning. I also believe in balance, and when I need a break, I take it. When I am struggling with a scene or a character, a day away often reveals answers and allows me to move forward with my book. One quote from Irish writer William Butler Yeats speaks to the paranormal women’s fiction writer side of my nature. “The world is full of magic things, patiently waiting for our senses to grow sharper.” I do believe the world is filled with magic, and even when I don’t see it, I feel it.

If you could choose one thing for readers to remember after reading your book, what would it be?

Life changes and we must change with it, even when it’s uncomfortable. Learn to trust yourself and take a chance, because no matter where a woman is in life, she can embrace change and step into new situations with courage and confidence.

Interview with B.R. Louis, Author of Space Holes: First Transmission

What's the story behind the story? What inspired you to write Space Holes: First Transmission?

I'm a firm believer of: "if you don't laugh, you cry." With the way the world is now, I think everyone should be able to take a step back, look at all of this, and just laugh. Writing Space Holes was cathartic and I hope it provides much needed laughter to those who need it.

If you had to pick theme songs for the main characters of Space Holes: First Transmission, what would they be?

R.E.M. - It's The End Of The World As We Know It (And I Feel Fine), seems most appropriate for this book and characters.

What's your favorite genre to read? Is it the same as your favorite genre to write?

I'm split probably 70% sci-fi and 30% fantasy for my most common reads. Though I'll dabble in anything if it catches my interest.

What books are on your TBR pile right now?

I'm currently reading Shamans Of Heaven and Hell by my friend Chris Kim, and also reading Citizen Orlov by Jonathan Payne. On the TBR are the Oxygen Farmer and So You Had To Build A Time Machine.

What scene in your book was your favorite to write?

An unexpected character makes a grand entrance in a place he was never expected to be. The crew's general lack of surprise or interest in the spectacle is my favorite kind of dry humor.

Do you have any quirky writing habits? (lucky mugs, cats on laps, etc.)

I leave notes in too many places. I have a document on cloud storage, one on my phone, sticky notes, and notebook—sometimes they all have moderately different timelines.

Do you have a motto, quote, or philosophy you live by?

“You're an interesting species. An interesting mix. You're capable of such beautiful dreams, and such horrible nightmares. You feel so lost, so cut off, so alone, only you're not. See, in all our searching, the only thing we've found that makes the emptiness bearable, is each other.” ― Carl Sagan, Contact

If you could choose one thing for readers to remember after reading your book, what would it be?

Choose laughter. It's a much better way to live.

Interview with O A Shergold, Author of The Order of the Bedourai (An Alex & Eleanor Tale of Inhabited Space Vol 1)

What's the story behind the story? What inspired you to write The Order of the Bedourai (An Alex & Eleanor Tale of Inhabited Space Vol 1)?

As an engineer, I wrote this book for my children, or any teenager trying to cope with the technological revolution we are living through. By creating a future far more advanced than today, I wanted to inspire them about the benefits science and engineering might bring. I also created characters the reader can immediately identify with, because those characters are struggling with the same issues as they do today: issues such as how to prevent technology taking over their lives, or how to challenge social norms if they don’t agree with them. Naturally, through my own children’s influence, the story ended up as a reflection on what they taught me about family, friendship, and true equality in a liberal society – as well as the need for adventure, teenagers changing the world, and a good sense of humor!

If you had to pick theme songs for the main characters of The Order of the Bedourai (An Alex & Eleanor Tale of Inhabited Space Vol 1), what would they be?

Eleanor, with her positivity and desire for adventure, would have to be ‘Don’t Stop Me Now’ by Queen, whilst Alex, who is always questioning authority and wanting to go against the system would probably be ‘Welcome To The Machine’ by Pink Floyd.

What's your favorite genre to read? Is it the same as your favorite genre to write?

I have always loved science-fiction and read many of the classics, and through reading stories with my children gravitated to YA adventure. So, it was natural to combine the two genres for The Order of the Bedourai. I also enjoy fantasy or historical fiction.

What books are on your TBR pile right now?

Ancillary Sword by Anne Leckie, Percy Jackson And The Chalice of the Gods by Rick Riordan, and The Burning Land by Bernard Cornwell.

What scene in your book was your favorite to write?

I am particularly pleased with the Chapter, ‘A Quantum Dinner with Schrödinger’s Cat’ as it mixes all the key elements of the book; the adventure of the teenage protagonists on a high-pressure surveillance mission, the family dynamic between the twins and their parents, the mum explaining the technology of how they travel between the stars, as well as some light-hearted moments from the dad to relieve the tension.

Do you have any quirky writing habits? (lucky mugs, cats on laps, etc.)

In a hectic house with three teenage children, I find the quiet times to write come after meals; that is when the kids play computer games, my wife writes her diary, and I get to work on my novel.

Do you have a motto, quote, or philosophy you live by?

Treat and respect everyone equally, and as I would wish to be treated.

If you could choose one thing for readers to remember after reading your book, what would it be?

The future is bright, but don’t let it blind you!
