Interview with Winter Renshaw, author of P.S. I Hate You

03 Apr 2018

What can you tell us about your new release, P.S. I Hate You?

It’s about a sassy waitress and a broody soldier who meet twice in one day. He’s about to be deployed and she talks him into spending a week together before he goes. She then talks him into exchanging letters while he’s gone. But after a few months, the letters stop. Eight months later, he comes into her diner and acts like he doesn’t know her. I’ll stop there because I don’t want to spoil the twist!

What or who inspired you to become an author?

I’ve always loved reading and writing! I can’t remember a time when I didn’t. I cut my teeth on Little Critter books, moved on to Goosebumps and Babysitter’s Club and the rest is history.

What books are currently on your night stand?

Midnight Blue by L.J. Shen and a bunch of non-fiction books like Girl Wash Your Face and E-Squared.

Say you’re the host of a literary talk show. Who would be your first guest? What would you want to ask?

I’d host Caroline Kepnes and I’d ask her a million questions because her talent is mind-blowing, but I’d probably start out asking about her process from start to finish.

What’s your favorite thing about writing?

The escape.

If you had to pick one place to vacation for the rest of your life, where would you choose?

Southern California. I love the beach, the sun, palm trees, and gorgeous weather!

What scene in P.S. I Hate You was your favorite to write?

The twist! I can’t say anything else about it or I’ll give it away.

Do you have a motto, quote or philosophy you live by?

Nothing quotable. Lately, I’ve just been in this “you get what you give” mindset. I try to put “good” into the world and most of the time I get “good” back!
