30 Jan 2024

What’s the story behind the story? What inspired you to write Armageddon Book III?

Vasili Arkipov. See this documentary. October 27th, 1962 the day the world could have ended.

If you had to pick theme songs for the main characters of Armageddon Book III, what would they be?

Eve of Destruction by Barry McGuire.

What’s your favorite genre to read? Is it the same as your favorite genre to write?

Historical Fiction, books like Fail Safe and On the Beach.

What books are on your TBR pile right now?

Jet Age Man by Earl McGill who is 96 years old and was a B-29 Pilot in the Korean War.

I talked with him on the phone and emailed back and forth many times to help me with the Mig 15 and the B-29 battles.

What scene in your book was your favorite to write?

The nuclear war scene where US anti-ballistic missiles are attempting to intercept incoming North Korean and Chinese missiles in 2028.

Do you have any quirky writing habits? (lucky mugs, cats on laps, etc.)

Odie Dog is my muse. He speaks to me in code when I hit a snag.

Do you have a motto, quote, or philosophy you live by?

Immanual Kant’s Primary Categorical Imperative: “Treat others as you would want to be treated in a similar situation.”

If you could choose one thing for readers to remember after reading your book, what would it be?

Even though we live in a civilized society that society has many enemies that wish us ill. It is important to remember that we are but one step, or critical nuclear mistake, away from an apoplectic world. I spent the first five chapters of Book I explaining Thomas Hobbes State of Nature and that would be a good place to start for readers.
