Interview with Terri Greening, Author of The Copper Isle Ghostslayer

20 Feb 2024

What’s the story behind the story? What inspired you to write The Copper Isle Ghostslayer?

I read a story about a shipwreck long ago. The ship had bags of gold on it. I wondered what would happen if someone discovered the gold, and the novel developed from there.

What’s your favorite genre to read? Is it the same as your favorite genre to write?

My favorite genre to read is thriller. I also like to read mysteries and a wide variety of other things. I like to write thrillers, mysteries, and suspense novels.

What books are on your TBR pile right now?

Nemesis by Agatha Christie, The Art Thief by Michael Finkel, and American Primitive by Mary Oliver.

What scene in your book was your favorite to write?

I liked writing the scene with ghosts in it.

Do you have any quirky writing habits? (lucky mugs, cats on laps, etc.)

When I’m writing a novel, I usually write notes during the day and stick them in envelopes to refer back to later.

Do you have a motto, quote, or philosophy you live by?

Write a novel a little bit at a time, and eventually, it will be done.

If you could choose one thing for readers to remember after reading your book, what would it be?

I would like readers to remember the heroine, Layla Devereaux, for her strength, love, and determination.
