Interview with Stacey Wilk, Author of Whispering Christmas

01 Feb 2024

What’s the story behind the story? What inspired you to write Whispering Christmas?

I had a character in my head with a hearing problem. I knew someday I wanted to write about that. When it was time to design Nyx’s book, I needed a reason to bring her back home and I had already made her a singer. A singer with a hearing problem? That made me sit up and take notice. I knew what I wanted Nyx’s story to be about.

If you had to pick theme songs for the main characters of Whispering Christmas, what would they be?

Nyx: Two Doors Down by Dolly Parton

Ford: Def Leppard Love and Affection

What’s your favorite genre to read? Is it the same as your favorite genre to write?

I love to read Thrillers and Suspense.

What books are on your TBR pile right now?

A Divided Heart by Alessandra Torre, Blinded by JB Shcroeder, The Girl in Cabin 13 by A.L. Rivers, and Life on Loan by Ashley Farley.

What scene in your book was your favorite to write?

I can’t say I have a favorite scene. What I love is when the scenes come together to make the best book I can possibly write.

Do you have any quirky writing habits? (lucky mugs, cats on laps, etc.)

I always play music when I write. I create a playlist for every book.

Do you have a motto, quote, or philosophy you live by?

I have a few! We live our lives by our choices. Chase your joy and your dreams. Don’t take anyone’s crap. (ha. ha.)

If you could choose one thing for readers to remember after reading your book, what would it be?

I want readers to remember how they felt when they close the book.
