Interview with Sidney Son, Author of Through the Abyss

15 Jun 2022

What’s the story behind the story? What inspired you to write Through the Abyss?

I wanted to present thoughts and ideas in an entertaining way that get readers thinking about the world.

If you had to pick theme songs for the main characters of Through the Abyss, what would they be?

Jonathan Hawthorn – Kryptonite by Three Doors Down, and Ariella Marconi – Respect by Aretha Franklin.

What’s your favorite genre to read? Is it the same as your favorite genre to write?

Esoteric history and science.

What books are on your TBR pile right now?

Untones – by L.S. Povovich and Soul Bottles by Lawrence M. Schoen & Brian Thorne.

What scene in your book was your favorite to write?

Chapter Two – The introduction of Ariella Marconi and the description of the underwater sea lab.

Do you have any quirky writing habits? (lucky mugs, cats on laps, etc.)

I have a Bic pen which I have written every word of this book. I just replace the ink tube with new ones.

Do you have a motto, quote, or philosophy you live by?

Variation of Lao Tzu – Knowing others may be wisdom but knowing yourself is enlightenment.

If you could choose one thing for readers to remember after reading your book, what would it be?

Our history, origins, and the world in which we live is not what we have been taught.
