What's the story behind the story? What inspired you to write this book?
Writing “All That Matters” comes from a desire to expose the raw, unfiltered reality of caregiving and love under pressure. The opportunity to offer an intimate look into one family’s emotional landscape and their suffocating, silent burden was my inspiration.
What's your favorite genre to read? Is it the same as your favorite genre to write?
My favorite genre is contemporary women’s fiction, which is the genre of “All That Matters.”
What books are on your TBR pile right now?
“The Invisible Hour” and “When We Flew Away” are two novels by Alice Hoffman that are on my TBR pile right now.
What scene in your book was your favorite to write?
The grocery store scene is my favorite because it exposes invisible struggles that many autism parents face every day. Ultimately, I hope this moment sparks a deeper empathy for autism families.
Do you have any quirky writing habits? (lucky mugs, cats on laps, etc.)
I write down interesting experiences and words to weave into my stories, usually with Linda, my son‘s BelgianMalinois, keeping me company by my side.
Do you have a motto, quote or philosophy you live by?
“Show, don’t tell” is the quote I live by because it means to let actions and sensory details reveal the emotion.
If you could choose one thing for readers to remember after reading your book, what would it be?
I want readers to remember the magical power of friendship— and how a simple invitation can change the world for a neurodiverse family.
