What’s the story behind the story? What inspired you to write The Marriage Formula?
Experiencing life as a woman in this culture personally, as well as observing the lives of other women. The challenges of juggling personal relationships, family, and career and discovering that having it all is a myth for most. Or at the very least a struggle.
What’s your favorite genre to read? Is it the same as your favorite genre to write?
General fiction; mysteries.
What books are on your TBR pile right now?
A Gambling Man; Jeremy Fink and the Meaning of Life; The A to Z of You and Me.
What scene in your book was your favorite to write?
I enjoyed writing the scenes in Chapter 16–The Picnic Rocked.
Do you have any quirky writing habits? (lucky mugs, cats on laps, etc.)
Writing notes on pieces of paper anywhere I am; and waking up in the middle of the night to write ideas on a digital notepad. I also like to imagine scenes around the characters that never get to the page but help me to flesh out the characters.
Do you have a motto, quote, or philosophy you live by?
Try to be kind, one person at a time. So much else is out of our control…
If you could choose one thing for readers to remember after reading your book, what would it be?
There’s no such thing as perfection. It’s an artificial construction.
