What's the story behind the story? What inspired you to write this book?
My grandparents on my father’s side were from Scotland. Nana in the book is based loosely on my Nana and some of my memories of her. She was a gutsy woman. During WWII, she operated excavating equipment in a quarry. I visited Scotland and Ireland a few years ago and love the countries and their people. Needless to say, I’m a huge Outlander fan. I have a few more stories set in Scotland in the wings.
If you had to pick theme songs for the main characters of your book, what would they be?
For Lainie: "Rise Up" — Andra Day
For Kalen: "Make You Feel My Love" — Adele
What's your favorite genre to read? Is it the same as your favorite genre to write?
Romantasy and paranormal romance. Yes, it's what I like to write.
What books are on your TBR pile right now?
Ranger Courts the Celtic Witch: A Light, Funny Paranormal Romance (Nocturne Falls Book 18) by Kristen Painter; Witchful Sinking by Jen Lassalle; Fated to the Wolf Prince by April Moon
What scene in your book was your favorite to write?
Kalen in the kitchen with a towel wrapped around him, fixing Lainie coffee. I love a guy who fixes me coffee every morning. It's the little things that get me.
Do you have any quirky writing habits? (lucky mugs, cats on laps, etc.)
No. But I like quiet. I hear dialogue and scenes in my head, and I get pretty grumpy if I'm interrupted in the middle of writing. My husband says I tune him out—and shhh, he's right. Lol.
Do you have a motto, quote or philosophy you live by?
Just do it.
If you could choose one thing for readers to remember after reading your book, what would it be?
The choice is always yours to change your life. Live it with joy.
