Interview with Kelly Garcia, Author of Till Hex Do We Part (The Hex Files Book 5)

What's the story behind the story? What inspired you to write this book?

I wanted to write the kind of heroine I wanted to read about—a grown woman with a career, kids, friendships, an ex-husband, bills, and plenty of baggage who also happens to be a witch.

If you had to pick theme songs for the main characters of your book, what would they be?

“Flowers” — Miley Cyrus
“Raise Your Glass” — P!nk
“Black Magic” — Little Mix

What's your favorite genre to read? Is it the same as your favorite genre to write?

I honestly don’t have a favorite genre. I’ll read just about anything if it’s a good story. I’ve never been very good at staying in one lane when it comes to books.

Sometimes that means paranormal romance or something witchy like The Hex Files, but just as often it’s a mystery, a thriller, women’s fiction, romance, or something completely different.

What books are on your TBR pile right now?

It’s a long list. Currently, The Wishing Game by Meg Shaffer, The Change by Kristen Miller, and The Once and Future Witches by Alix E. Harrow.

What scene in your book was your favorite to write?

The Veil - and no spoilers, but when you read it, you’ll see why.

Do you have any quirky writing habits? (lucky mugs, cats on laps, etc.)

I write every day at the ridiculous hour of 5 am.

Do you have a motto, quote or philosophy you live by?

Read widely, support other authors, and always be curious

If you could choose one thing for readers to remember after reading your book, what would it be?

I want my readers to remember the characters. I hope their journey makes them laugh, worry, and care enough to never forget.
