What's the story behind the story? What inspired you to write this book?
The POW camp in the story, Trent Park House, is a real place that was a POW camp for German generals captured by the Allies during WWII. This summer, after a decade of work, Trent Park House will be opened to the public as a museum, showing how the generals were listened to, and recordings were made of their conversations in an effort to learn Nazi war secrets and speed the Allied effort to win the war.
What's your favorite genre to read? Is it the same as your favorite genre to write?
My favorite genre to read and to write is cozy historical mysteries.
What books are on your TBR pile right now?
Lady Tan's Circle of Women by Lisa See, books by Lynn Morrison, Helena Dixon, Benedict Brown, and Anna Elliott.
What scene in your book was your favorite to write?
The first scene because that is where I begin to build the story, and the most important one to get right.
Do you have any quirky writing habits? (lucky mugs, cats on laps, etc.)
I have a huge vat of Irish Breakfast Tea every morning when I start writing.
Do you have a motto, quote or philosophy you live by?
My philosophy of life is to try to make things a little better. If we all do that, and don't worry about who gets the credit, there is no limit to what we can achieve.
If you could choose one thing for readers to remember after reading your book, what would it be?
That our enemies are human, too, with the same joys and fears that we have.
