Interview with Ivy Layne, Author of Reckless Heart
11 Jun 2025
What’s the story behind the story? What inspired you to write Reckless Heart?
I loved the idea of putting West and Avery together. They’re both such strong characters, and it was so much fun to see them balance each other while sparks were flying.
What’s your favorite genre to read? Is it the same as your favorite genre to write?
I skip all over the place, but mostly read romance. Right now, I’m obsessed with Paranormal Romance, but Romantic Suspense will always be my very favorite.
What books are on your TBR pile right now?
Archangel’s Ascension by Nalini Singh and Love Bites Really Hard by Lola Glass.
What scene in your book was your favorite to write?
I’d love to say, but it’s a huge spoiler. It involves West realizing what’s truly important to him when Avery is in danger.
Do you have any quirky writing habits? (lucky mugs, cats on laps, etc.)
I dictate instead of typing these days. I started to write faster. I found that it’s not faster, but I love telling the story so much more than typing it, I’ve never gone back to typing first drafts.
If you could choose one thing for readers to remember after reading your book, what would it be?
That who we think we are may not match who we really are when life tests us.
