What's the story behind the story? What inspired you to write this book?
I was inspired by Beauty and the Beast to write this book. I love a good Beauty and the Beast dark romance and I wanted to write my own mafia one. The darker and steamier the better when it comes to mafia romances in my opinion!
If you had to pick theme songs for the main characters of your book, what would they be? (Meant to be fun. Skip if you need to!)
“The Truth Untold” by BTS. It’s a story about a man who loves a woman from an affair and can’t speak to her. She dies before he gets the chance to tell her his love. While my story has a happy ending compared to this song, I love the romance and tragedy of it, and it fits this book very well.
What's your favorite genre to read? Is it the same as your favorite genre to write?
I love reading all kinds of genres; otherwise, I tend to get bored if I read the exact same genre over and over again. I’ll read a thriller one day and an epic historical fiction book the next. And of course, I love a good romance.
What books are on your TBR pile right now?
I’m excited to read Yesteryear by Caro Claire Burke next.
What scene in your book was your favorite to write?
My favorite scene to write was the moment my female protagonist, Aurora, sees her love interest, Gabriel, in a state of vulnerability. I love scenes like this because it always means a change for the couple.
Do you have any quirky writing habits? (lucky mugs, cats on laps, etc.)
I don’t have any specific writing habits, but I do have to write in my bed. It’s the comfiest place to write, making it easier for me to focus. And I make sure to write at the same time every day. That helps with discipline.
Do you have a motto, quote or philosophy you live by?
My motto is to just keep on moving. I always focus on writing every day to help my career. At times, it gets tough, but I always power through even on the hard days.
If you could choose one thing for readers to remember after reading your book, what would it be?
I would want my readers to know that anyone can find love if they open themselves up to it.
