Interview with Ivy Davis, Author of Broken
07 Nov 2025
What’s the story behind the story? What inspired you to write Broken?
I wanted to write a really steamy romance book this time, and I believe I delivered. You’re gonna need a fan for this one!
If you had to pick theme songs for the main characters of Broken, what would they be?
Off to the Races by Lana Del Rey. It’s about a twisted, dark relationship between a young woman and her older boyfriend. My book deals with that kind of toxic relationship that is so much fun to read about.
What’s your favorite genre to read? Is it the same as your favorite genre to write?
I love to read all different genres, from thrillers to romance to historical fiction. I love the variety to keep things interesting. But my favorite genre to write is romance. I just can’t help myself.
What books are on your TBR pile right now?
The next book on my TBR pile is The Second Chance Cinema by Thea Weiss.
What scene in your book was your favorite to write?
The scene where the main characters first meet. The tension between them was so much fun to write. I always love writing first meetings. There’s just something special about it.
Do you have any quirky writing habits? (lucky mugs, cats on laps, etc.)
I wish I had some, but I usually just stick to my normal schedule that keeps me on track. And a lot of mental determination.
Do you have a motto, quote, or philosophy you live by?
My motto is to stay focused, no matter what. If I can’t stay focused, then it makes it hard to get work done.
If you could choose one thing for readers to remember after reading your book, what would it be?
I want my readers to have a fun time with this book. The main theme is about embracing darkness within us and I hope my readers enjoy escaping into something darker and dangerous.
