Interview with Frank Lazarus, Author of Is Anything All Right?

16 Jul 2025

What’s the story behind the story? What inspired you to write Is Anything All Right? Observations of a Misanthrope?

I’ve written a blog for twenty years, and this book is the 20th anniversary.

What’s your favorite genre to read? Is it the same as your favorite genre to write?

Murder and Legal Thrillers. My other six books are of that genre.

What books are on your TBR pile right now?

Hard to Kill, Step on a Crack, Death of a Salesman, Billion-Dollar Ransom, and The Unraveling of Julia.

What scene in your book was your favorite to write?

Many, but my favorites are when I have animals and/or inanimate objects, speaking or sharing their thoughts, i.e., Brown Bears moving to evolve into polar bears, pistachio nuts trying to escape the bag, and the iceberg that sank the Titanic.

Do you have any quirky writing habits? (lucky mugs, cats on laps, etc.)

I overuse passive verbs.

Do you have a motto, quote, or philosophy you live by?

Do the right thing.

If you could choose one thing for readers to remember after reading your book, what would it be?

It was time well spent.
