Interview with Erica Spindler, author of Triple Six

22 Nov 2016

What can you tell us about your new release, Triple Six?

Triple Six is book #2 in The Lightkeepers, my supernatural thriller series. In it Detectives Micki Dare and Zach Harris a series of shocking home invasions that seem to have nothing in common. The deeper Micki and Zach plunge into the investigation, the more certain they become that these are no ordinary crimes and there’s something terrifyingly familiar at work. Their worst fear is realized—the dark force they battled in The Final Seven has returned, more powerful than ever.

If you woke up in the world of Triple Six, what is the first thing you would do?

I’d sign up for duty and pray I had a cool superpower.

Name a book that you feel has impacted your life significantly. Why was it so impactful?

One Thousand Gifts by Ann Voskamp. It’s about living in the moment and seeing the beauty and abundance all around you—then calling that abundance what it is, a gift. It radically changed the way I looked at life. I found I rushed and worried less and savored and smiled more.

What is the one movie that you can quote the most?

It’s got to be either the original Ghostbusters or the holiday classic A Christmas Story.

Case in point:

Ghostbusters: “I tried to think of the most harmless thing. Something I loved from my childhood. Something that could never, ever possibly destroy us, Mr. Stay Puft …”

A Christmas Story: “My old man, he worked in profanity the way other artists might work in oil or clay. It was his true medium . . .”

What’s the best advice you’ve ever received?

You’ve got to keep your butt in the chair. (No, seriously. Super simple but profound)

What scene in Triple Six was your favorite to write?

There were so many! I think it was the scene when Eli connects with Micki and “shares” the history of the Lightkeepers race with her. It blows her mind and was great fun to write!

Do you have a motto, quote or philosophy you live by?
Love is stronger than hate and good will always triumph over evil.
