Interview with Dale Mayer, Author of Simon Says…Jump (Kate Morgan Thrillers Book 2)

05 Nov 2021

If you were in an elevator with a stranger and had 1 minute or less to describe Simon Says… Jump before the doors opened, what description would you give?

Criminal Minds meets Medium.

What’s your favorite scene from your new release, Simon Says… Jump

It’s an emotional scene where relates how she knows the bridge where the jumper went over and why. A hint of her background, a hint of her pain, and insight into her growth from where she’d been to where she was now.

What’s your favorite thing about writing? What’s your least favorite thing about it?

The actual writing part can be stressful so the final editing process is the sweet spot. The story is great, characters all work, the flow and pace are spot on and it’s just making sure the word choices are fine tuned.

Which books would we be surprised to find on your shelves?

Course of Miracles! Dr. Seuss collection. I have eclectic tastes to go along with my eclectic writing.

What book should be required reading for all humans?

That I don’t have an answer for. I have a wide-ranging interest in everything from global climate change, saving our oceans, life on another planet to self-improvement tomes to of course fiction for escape. I think more important than me choosing one is the wish to have people pick up a book – any book – and learn/experience something new.

If you had to pick one place to vacation for the rest of your life, where would you choose?

Home! Especially if that came with resort amenities, housekeeper, cook, entertainer, hike companion, surfing instruction, scuba diving trips, and a 24 hour a day all inclusive spa. lol

What will your next adventure or writing project be?

Ooooh, now that is in the realm of mystery! After having just released a brand new thriller series, and with a brand new military series coming in January, I’m crossing ts and dotting is to make sure all is perfect. Then I’ll turn my attention to something. Should it be funny? Or sad this time? Another mystery? Or maybe something totally different like women’s fiction? It’s hard to say. I’ll know when I open up to a new page and start. Before then I haven’t a clue. 🙂
