Interview with Claudia Connor, Author of Worth It All

04 May 2016

What can you tell us about your new release, Worth It All?

Worth It All is a love story through and through. It’s about Paige, a single mother of a four year old struggling to make ends meet, and JT, a former football star who is now a prosthetics developer. They meet when the somewhat introverted hero is compelled to offer his help to Paige’s daughter. We then begin that beautiful slide toward love.

What’s on your writing desk?

My writing desk is a cluttered mess. It’s also in my closet. Let’s see, I have a Diet Coke, a Kit Kat wrapper from last week, a junk mail envelope that I wrote a line of dialogue on while sitting at soccer practice, six hot pink Post It notes stuck in various places, a cough drop, three pens, a pony tail holder, and four spirals with loose pieces of paper hanging out of them. There’s actually more but I’m embarrassed to go on.

Who is your favorite couple from literature?

My favorite book couple is easily Eve Dallas and Roarke from J.D. Robb’s In Death Series. That man can say more with one look, one touch, than most say with a thousand words.

What’s on your top 5 list for the best books you’ve ever read?

Top five books I’ve ever read…You know that’s impossible for a reader nerd, like picking favorite children, but I’ll list the first five that come to mind at this moment…

The Bronze Horseman by Paullina Simons
Cry No More by Linda Howard
Sweet Baby by Sharon Sala
The Next Best Thing by Kristan Higgins
Seventh Heaven by Catherine Anderson

You’re hosting a literary dinner party. Which three writers are invited?

If I was hosting a literary party, I would invite Nora Roberts, Kristan Higgins, and Sharon Sala. What a dream! I’m getting excited just thinking about it. Can we PLEASE make that happen?

What is the one movie that you can quote the most?

I am a HUGE movie watcher so there are tons of movies I’ve watched over and over, but I’ll go with my hands down favorite movie of all time: Gladiator. ***SPOILER*** don’t read if you haven’t seen it:

“My name is Maximus Decimus Meridius, commander of the Armies of the North, General of the Felix Legions, loyal servant to the true emperor, Marcus Aurelius. Father to a murdered son, husband to a murdered wife. And I will have my vengeance, in this life or the next.”

I’m such a nerd I’m including a video link. 🙂

What scene in Worth It All was your favorite to write?

My favorite scene to write in Worth It All was probably the visit to Virginia. Being in a room with all the McKinneys always makes me feel warm and fuzzy. Also, Paige’s daughter’s jealousy and possessiveness of JT was precious.

Do you have a motto, quote or philosophy you live by?

I say this to my three teen daughters ALL the time: Just because you can, doesn’t mean you should. And also the Golden Rule.
