Interview with C.C. Scharon, Author of Blood Never Washes Out
02 Jun 2020
What can you tell us about your new release, Blood Never Washes Out?
Blood Never Washes Out is a thrill ride with DEA Agent Jake Castillo as a secret kept for decades is revealed, layer by layer, challenging everything Jake thought he knew about his life.
What or who inspired you to become an author?
I don’t think anyone in particular inspired me to become an author. I just always loved stories and I’ve been writing them for as long as I can remember. My husband sent me on the path of doing it professionally when I complained about wanting to write a book. He told me to stop talking about it and get to work.
What’s on your top 5 list for the best books you’ve ever read?
Top five is hard to pick, but here are some good ones. These kept me turning the page, which is my biggest criterion. Outlander, The Da Vinci Code, The Giving Tree, Kiss the Girls, Tell No One.
Say you’re the host of a literary talk show. Who would be your first guest? What would you want to ask?
Harlan Coben. I’d like to ask him how long it took him to get his magical ability to tell fantastic stories in such an interesting way.
What’s your favorite thing about writing?
What I love most about writing is the author’s God-like ability over everything that happens. What characters do, what dangers they face, who lives, and who dies. Your story is the only place in the world you can control fate of everyone.
What is a typical day like for you?
I like to write in the morning, so I put in a couple of hours almost every day. If I’m in the middle of a big project, that sometimes grows into an all-day affair. The rest of the time, I’m doing whatever suits my mood with family and friends.
What scene in Blood Never Washes Out was your favorite to write?
Definitely the scene at the end where all the pieces come together with a few extra twists. After all, I wrote the whole book to get to it.
Do you have a motto, quote, or philosophy you live by?
Enjoy every moment.
