Interview with Bob Herpe, Author of The Other Side of Crisis

13 Feb 2024

What’s the story behind the story? What inspired you to write The Other Side of Crisis?

This is book 2 of a series, “Gravnick” being book 1 and “The Other Side of Crisis” being book 2.

If you had to pick theme songs for the main characters of The Other Side of Crisis, what would they be?

I did it my way.

What’s your favorite genre to read? Is it the same as your favorite genre to write?

Suspense Thriller, yes.

What books are on your TBR pile right now?

Crosshairs, The Center.

What scene in your book was your favorite to write?

In Chapter 32 with the buildup of going to Syria with Rumi Al-Karim and his wife Zyalah and their actual undercover mission in Syria.

Do you have any quirky writing habits? (lucky mugs, cats on laps, etc.)

I do not write from an outline. I write a full story about the main characters as to where they are from, how they grew up etc. This way I know how they will react in a certain situation and then write my opening and an ending.

Do you have a motto, quote, or philosophy you live by?

Have fun everyday.

If you could choose one thing for readers to remember after reading your book, what would it be?

People of different cultures, backgrounds and political beliefs can find a way to live and love together.
