What's the story behind the story? What inspired you to write this book?
Although the book consists of four stories, there is a common thread. I have always wondered how history can repeat itself in different ways. I wanted to tell a story of compassion and the immigrant experience. Many don't realize what is happening to the other person. They justify their actions by "doing their job." I want to present the other side concisely without sounding preachy.
What's your favorite genre to read? Is it the same as your favorite genre to write?
I really don't have a favorite genre. I read whatever interests me, from fiction to nonfiction. If you look at my work at www.seasonball.com, you'll notice that I've written in various genres, including speculative fiction, science fiction, international thrillers, memoirs, and now short stories.
What books are on your TBR pile right now?
I try to avoid a long TBR.
What scene in your book was your favorite to write?
Since these are short stories, there isn't a single scene I like best. Each book has different favorite scenes. For example, the inspection in the first story or the inner turmoil going through the main character in the third story.
Do you have a motto, quote or philosophy you live by?
Never give up.
If you could choose one thing for readers to remember after reading your book, what would it be?
I always feel that reading my books is akin to enjoying a fine wine as opposed to chugging down a beer. I want the reader to immerse themselves in my world.
