Interview with McKenna James, Author of Royally Loved
Today we’re interviewing both halves of the Mckenna James writing team.
What can you tell us about your new release, Royally Loved?
Mckenna: Royally Loved is a box set that includes five full-length royal romance novels.
James: These books include forbidden romance, childhood sweethearts, secret babies, wrong side of the tracks, and second chance romance.
Mckenna: So there’s something for everyone!
James: Right!
What or who inspired you to become an author?
James: I started writing fan fiction for fun. So maybe Harry Potter, Twilight. Those inspired me for sure.
Mckenna: For me, it was almost an accident. I was a mommy blogger, and then I tried some flash fiction, and I eventually wrote longer and longer. But I was inspired by the Twilight series too.
Say you're the host of a literary talk show. Who would be your first guest? What would you want to ask?
James: J.K. Rowling for me. I’d ask how she found the fortitude to keep writing. It sure has paid off!
Mckenna: That’s a hard one. I’d probably ask Oprah to be on (because everyone would watch) and then I’d ask her how she picked the books for her book club. If she wasn’t available, I’d ask Reese Witherspoon the same thing. She has a book club on Audible now, and I listen to books all the time.
What's your favorite thing about writing?
Mckenna: The idea phase. That part is so fun. Especially bouncing ideas off each other. The follow through parts I don’t love as much.
James: I enjoy the editing the most, the second draft where we pull everything together.
What scene from Royally Loved was your favorite to write?
Mckenna: Royally Schooled. This was just a rags to riches love story, and those are my favorite.
James: I think Royal Holiday. Parts of this book were inspired by The Nutcracker, so there’s a timelessness to it that really spoke to me.
Do you have a motto, quote, or philosophy you live by?
Mckenna: That Maya Angelou quote: “People will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel.”
James: We want readers to enjoy our books and feel happy when they read them.

Interview with Katie Cherry, Author of the Crystal Dragon Saga
What can you tell us about your new release, Crystal Dragon Saga Boxed Set?
The boxed set contains the first three books of the seven-book Saga, which follows Crystal Dragon's story. She grew up in our world, but when taken to another, she learns that there are seven, and she is the lost princess of the central realm, Zilferia. In order to step up to the position, she has to undergo some life-threatening trials to bring out her Gifts, powers that Zilferians can gain. Her partner, Nathan, helps her, though that's just the beginning of her journey as she discovers how much larger her role is fated to become with the seven realms in danger of being wiped from existence.
What or who inspired you to become an author?
I decided to become an author after I ran out of books to read at about 13 years old! With no more intriguing fantasy books in my local libraries available, I tried my hand at writing my own. I wrote book one and book two of this series in High School, at which point the ideas came faster than I could write, and I realized that the life of an author had taken hold of me and wasn't going to be letting go! Now, I'm inspired to keep going as my books spark a love of reading in kids today.

Say you're the host of a literary talk show. Who would be your first guest? What would you want to ask?
Christopher Paolini. I would ask what it was like when he started the series, what his writing process was like, and if he knew what was going to happen throughout the whole series when he started. I'd also ask how he felt about the movie that was made for Eragon and if he wishes it would have continued, or if it would be remade and possibly continued.
What's your favorite thing about writing?
It's much like reading, but almost more wild of a ride! The characters come to life in a way they can't really for readers, and can even take control of the story and change your plans. It's the most crazy, interesting thing how the books write themselves. The stories I write are things I like to read, so it's like I get to read the story, but experience it in a much deeper level than an ordinary reader can, and even have some say in what happens as well.
What is a typical day like for you?
Well, with chronic fatigue, anxiety, and depression, I feel like I have far less to my day than most people. I sleep longer each night, but stay tired all day regardless. I do my best to write anyway, spend some time on social media interacting with other authors, fans, and friends, play some video games with my husband, and watch a show on Netflix whenever we have lunch or dinner. I'll often go for a short walk around my neighborhood and enjoy the sunshine and fresh air, and sometimes have a nap during the day as well. Thankfully it's just my husband and I at home, so I'm able to have relaxation time and work time each day.
What scene in Crystal Dragon Saga Boxed Set was your favorite to write?
It was in book three, Crystal Lies! To avoid spoilers, I'll keep the background of the scene vague. Crystal and Nathan were in the watery realm of Quagon and had to convince a person who wouldn't leave their side that they- Crystal, specifically- wasn't someone he wanted to be seen with. So, they devised a plan that I found hilarious enough I was laughing as I wrote it. It involved Crystal intentionally making a fool of herself, making a mess with cake at a very public party, shouting and dancing like crazy, and more that I can't say here without a spoiler! But it was funny and exciting to write such an energetic, horrifyingly embarrassing scene.
Do you have a motto, quote, or philosophy you live by?
I actually did come up with a personal life motto one night years ago. "Live, but do not forget to love. For love is what makes life worth living." I know it makes me sound like a romance author, but the truth is if we aren't loving the people around us and what we're doing with our life, it makes for a rather sad and dull existence. So chase after what you love, and your life will be fulfilling and I doubt you'll have any regrets. I haven't!

Interview with Jaydeep Shah, Author of Tribulation
What can you tell us about your new release, Tribulation?
Have you ever read a book and thought, “Wow! I wish I’d written that one?”
Tribulation is one of those books for me. It has everything I like: romance, betrayal, humor, action, mild horror, thrilling twists, great characters, and of course, riveting suspense.
Tribulation is about a couple who struggles to escape the place after finding a dead girl wandering in the mansion. They fear more when they see it’s the girl, whom they killed six years earlier.
Tribulation, the first book in Cops Planet Series, is a short introduction to the universe I have created for a huge crime fiction story. On the Cops Planet, readers will enjoy: Exploring the places full of crime, encountering quirky characters, and experiencing some paranormal activities, but especially in Tribulation.
What or who inspired you to become an author?
I’ve always enjoyed reading books and watching movies. I always wanted to write and publish my stories, but it wasn’t until I wrote my first book: The Revenge (Horror Stories #1).
What's on your top 5 list for the best books you've ever read?
That’s a tough question. But let’s see … Ah! Ok. So, my top five best books that have helped me stay on the track of daily writing are:
1. Harry Potter Series by J.K. Rowling.
2. The Complete Maus by Art Spiegelman
3. Feed by M.T. Anderson
4. Awkward by Svetlana Chmakova
5. From the Corner of His Eye by Dean Koontz
Say you're the host of a literary talk show. Who would be your first guest? What would you want to ask?
My first guest would be Stephen King. Although I desperately want to read all of his work, I’ve read very few of his books. But you know, he’s excellent at creating scary stuff, especially the villains, that could chill your bones. I would love to know from where he gets inspiration to create the potent, realistic, spine-chilling antagonists.
What's your favorite thing about writing?
The favorite thing about writing is developing a fantasy world and characters, with whom readers could fall in love.
What is a typical day like for you?
Sleep around ten or eleven at night. Wake up at five or six in the morning. Get coffee and breakfast. Write at least four hours. Work on editing another story for about two hours. Work on some freelance writing and editing jobs for three hours. Read for an hour, and then watch a movie or a few episodes of a show on Netflix.
What scene in Tribulation was your favorite to write?
Ah! This question, the best one. I’m so thrilled to say that I enjoyed writing the entire book so much that I just can’t express in words. I’m electrified to launch this book, and I want everyone to read it.
Coming to the point, the most favorite part I enjoyed writing in this book was the end. I’m sorry, but I’m afraid I can’t say what’s the end because I don’t want to spoil the fun.
Moreover, I could have added many things in this book to help readers understand more about the characters and specifically their past, but I wanted to try something different. And so, I kept this story short. And based on the post-publication reviews, I would say the end is working perfectly fine in the book. My goal was to hook the readers with the story with a suspenseful ending, and it has come out so good that I’m excited to see people reading Tribulation, and then the sequel Trials—which is coming next year, and will be available for pre-order from next month: July 15, 2020.

Never give up. Live in the present. Enjoy every moment.
