Interview with E.G. Radcliff, Author of The Wild Court

What can you tell us about your new release, The Wild Court?

It’s my favorite of the series! There’s a lot more action than the previous two books, a larger cast, and a bigger world. A lot of emotional impact still stems from the characters and their relationships, but between character drama and intense plot stakes, The Wild Court explores the society of the fae, the magic there, and the ways the world across the veil ties into the human realm more closely than anybody realized.

What books are currently on your nightstand?

Crooked Kingdom (Leigh Bardugo), Blood of Elves (Andrzej Sapowski), one or two of my many notebooks

What advice would you give your teenage self?

This is the healthiest that your sleep schedule will ever be--enjoy it while you can.

If you had an extra hour each day, how would you spend it?

Ooh, maybe I’d beef up my conlang. I’ve been thinking of adding multiple grammatical declensions or maybe making vowel length contrastive.

What makes your world go round? Why does it bring you joy?

Ah, so many things. There are the easy answers--friends, family, writing, my cat--but for something a little more interesting, I like it when mundane things take my breath away. For instance, my front yard. It’s mostly not grass--it’s creeping charlie and clover, and it’s a bit of a mess. But in the spring, it sprouts wildflowers all over it, and there’s nothing quite so nice as drinking coffee on the porch while the sun shines through wild chives and buttercups. They collect dew when the sun comes up, and the bees love them. I think it’s remarkably beautiful.

What scene from The Wild Court was your favorite to write?

I loved writing every interaction between Ronan and anyone else. My boy grew up to be chaotic, bless him.

E.G. Radcliff is the author of the new book The Wild Court (The Coming of Áed Book 3)

Interview with D.A. Vader, Author of Black in Blue

What can you tell us about your new release, Black in Blue?

Black in Blue is about standing at the crossroads of Law enforcement and being black. The decisions I've made, the experiences I've been through, and the people I've met.

What or who inspired you to become an author?

I've wanted to put my story down for others to read for years. Watching both sides of the divide tear each other apart finally got me to put my pen to paper.

What's on your top 5 list for the best books you've ever read?

I couldn't decide on individual books so I came up with the series I think are my top 5.

  • The Land by Aleron Kong
  • Jack West books by Mathew Reilly
  • Black Dagger Brotherhood by JR Ward
  • The Peacekeepers by Ricky Sides
  • Nemesis by Jeremy Robinson

Say you're the host of a literary talk show. Who would be your first guest? What would you want to ask?

Jeremy Robinson. How does it feel to create the MCU of the literary world?

What's your favorite thing about writing?

The freedom of it. It's just you and your ideas and story.

What is a typical day like for you?

If I'm not with my children, I'm either creating business plans, looking up different comics and movies, or playing fantasy football.

What scene from Black in Blue was your favorite to write?

The chapter where I wrestled a guy covered in sh*t. At the time I wished I called out of work but now I can laugh about it.

Do you have a motto, quote, or philosophy you live by?

If it's probable it's possible. People will tell you that something is impossible just because they don't know anyone that's ever done it. The world is littered with stories of people that came from nothing to become great. If they can do it so can I.

D.A. Vader is the author of the new book Black in Blue
