Interview with Parker S. Huntington & L.J. Shen, Authors of My Dark Romeo
What's the story behind the story? What inspired you to write My Dark Romeo?
We are OBSESSED with fairytale retellings, historical (romance books for Leigh and Asian dramas for Parker), so we thought... What if we combine what we love about both and turn it into this epic enemies-to-lovers romance? Then, MDR was born.
If you had to pick theme songs for the main characters of My Dark Romeo, what would they be?
"WE MADE PLANS & GOD LAUGHED" by Beauty School Dropout.
What's your favorite genre to read? Is it the same as your favorite genre to write?
Parker loves non-fiction, whereas Leigh devours romance, thrillers, and more.
What books are on your TBR pile right now?
None. 🙁 Between our writing schedules (and Leigh's busy mom-of-three-kids schedule), time is so tight.
What scene in your book was your favorite to write?
Parker: I LOVED writing the party scene, particularly when Dallas tries to pilfer credit card info from Romeo.
Leigh: The plane scene.
Do you have any quirky writing habits? (lucky mugs, cats on laps, etc.)
Parker: Cookie butter, Psych on in the background, and dogs sprawled everywhere.
Leigh: Peace and quiet.
Do you have a motto, quote, or philosophy you live by?
Not particularly.
If you could choose one thing for readers to remember after reading your book, what would it be?
Do things that make you happy.

Interview with Davidy Rosenfeld, Author of Farewell, My Babylon
What's the story behind the story? What inspired you to write Farewell, My Babylon (Erez Brown Series Book 1)?
I’m a huge admirer of Raymond Chandler, Philip Marlowe is one of my childhood heroes, so I wanted to write a Philip Marlowe novel set in Modern Tel Aviv; my city of dreams.
If you had to pick theme songs for the main characters of Farewell, My Babylon (Erez Brown Series Book 1), what would they be?
Wild is the Wind by David Bowie.
What's your favorite genre to read? Is it the same as your favorite genre to write?
I like to read a good mystery, especially noir and hardboiled detective, but I read almost all genres of books. I don’t really care about the genre of a book, so long as it's good…
What books are on your TBR pile right now?
On the pile next to my bed you can find "A Philosophical Investigation" by Philip Kerr, a techno thriller set in modern England, and "The Narrow Road to Oku" by Basho.
What scene in your book was your favorite to write?
I can’t say I had a favourite scene, but I liked the opening of the book, I think it reflects my hero well. He’s cynical, witty, and always knows what the right thing to do is. (As for myself, I never have a clue what is the right thing to do is, but that’s just life I guess…)
Do you have any quirky writing habits? (lucky mugs, cats on laps, etc.)
No, I just write whenever I can.
Do you have a motto, quote, or philosophy you live by?
Life is short, live and let live, if life gives you lemons, just add gin and tonic.
If you could choose one thing for readers to remember after reading your book, what would it be?
Be good, you know what to do.

Interview with Rebecca Leigh, Author of A Duke Always Breaks the Rules
What's the story behind the story? What inspired you to write A Duke Always Breaks the Rules?
I have always had a vivid imagination that allowed me to create these different worlds or scenes, and sometimes those stories inspire me to put them on paper in the hope that others will enjoy reading them as much as I enjoyed creating them. While creating this series, Rockhurst quickly became one of my favorite characters and there is a special place in my heart for him. And when writing A Duke Always Breaks the Rules, I felt it was time for him to meet his match in the lovely lady Isobel. It really was a fun story to write and is probably one of my favorites.
If you had to pick theme songs for the main characters of A Duke Always Breaks the Rules, what would they be?
For Charles, I would have to say The Joker by the Steve Miller Band. From previous books in the series, Rockhurst is a bit of a scoundrel and a shameless flirt, and I feel like the song fits his characterization.
For Isobel, I think the vibe of the song Mastermind by Taylor Swift is reflected in Isobel’s journey to establish her place as the Duchess of Avanley.
What's your favorite genre to read? Is it the same as your favorite genre to write?
Regency romances have always been my favorite since I was a teen, staying up long into the night reading by flashlight. The first romances I read were by Barbara Cartland, and I have been an avid reader of the genre ever since. I also enjoy contemporary romances with strong male characters and a bit of danger. While regency is my favorite to read as well as to write, I am exploring other genres.
What books are on your TBR pile right now?
There are so many great authors of the genre out there and my list is incredibly long, but here are a few in my queue. A Duke’s Guide to Seducing His Bride by: Lauren Royal The Duke’s Secret Cinderella by: Eva Devon Captive Bride by: Stella Gray A Love Match for the Marquess by: Cara Maxwell
What scene in your book was your favorite to write?
I don’t want to give away too much because I want my readers to be surprised. However, there is a scene near the beginning where Isobel defies her husband’s wishes and proves that she is ready to be more than a match for his iron will.
Do you have any quirky writing habits? (lucky mugs, cats on laps, etc.)
While I would enjoy writing in a secluded quiet library with soft classical music playing in the background, my sweet dog Monster laying at my feet begging for Cheetos, and a cup of hot English breakfast tea steeping before me, that is not my life. Instead, I find myself squeezing in writing time between my dogs barking constantly, my kids visiting from college, and my husband inquiring about the next book’s progress.
Do you have a motto, quote, or philosophy you live by?
Striving for perfection is ok, but don’t let yourself get so hung up on everything being perfect and being successful that you don’t take chances, or you pass up on an experience because you are afraid of failing.
If you could choose one thing for readers to remember after reading your book, what would it be?
When I write it’s like being transported to a different world or a different time, it’s my escape and that is what I would want for my readers, to have an escape from their everyday lives, to smile or laugh and develop a love for the characters.
