Interview with Bree Wolf, Author of On the Wings of Cinders

What's the story behind the story? What inspired you to write On the Wings of Cinders?

Well, I've always wanted to write a continual series, diving deeper into one couple's journey to their happily ever after, and Sarah and Keir were such intriguing characters from the Whickertons in Love series that ideas simply kept coming - too many for a single book. Thus...

What's your favorite genre to read? Is it the same as your favorite genre to write?

Of course, I love reading historical romance, any era or country really. But I also adore sci-fi, different cultures on other worlds, and endless possibilities for what life can look like. It's intriguing.

What books are on your TBR pile right now?

Oh, I always collect my TBR impulsively whenever I find a chunk of time to read. While I write, I read very little because I can't get my head into two stories at the same time.

What scene in your book was your favorite to write?

Oh, dear, that's like asking a mother to pick a favorite child! I love writing anything funny, so Loki moments were a hoot. But I'm also a sucker for tear-jerking moments, be it death scenes or farewell moments or...anything really.

Do you have any quirky writing habits? (lucky mugs, cats on laps, etc.)

Not that I'm aware of. Peace and quiet, a window I can stare out of as I contemplate my next scene... perhaps my neighbors think that weird, though!

Do you have a motto, quote, or philosophy you live by?

Do what you love! Make choices based on what you truly want and stay true to yourself.

If you could choose one thing for readers to remember after reading your book, what would it be?

That anything is possible. I know that sometimes the world is a truly hard place to live in, but... there is always a silver lining. Somehow things can be made to happen, another path can be found, a place to belong we never thought could exist.

Interview with Remi Fox, Author of Will Pucking Ledger

What's the story behind the story? What inspired you to write Will Pucking Ledger?

Will Pucking Ledger was a great opportunity for me to live out my childhood obsession with the 90’s Mighty Ducks movie, in a fully adult, very spicy manner! But, really, I love sports and romance. Getting to combine the two in a book was a dream come true. Who can resist a hot professional hockey player? I also loved pairing the tough athlete with a strong, feisty woman.

What's your favorite genre to read? Is it the same as your favorite genre to write?

I love to read both romance and mystery. If a book’s got both—even better!

I love to write romance. It’s so much fun developing characters and allowing them to lead the story. I truly find that my characters take the wheel and steer the story in their own unique ways.

What books are on your TBR pile right now?

I’ve got a wide array on the TBR stack. Dark Lies by Elliot York is on top, a few romances from Tess Oliver and Penelope Ward are loaded on my Kindle, and a paperback of Tana French’s The Likeness is on the bedside table.

What scene in your book was your favorite to write?

Oh gosh, that’s hard. I really loved writing all of the scenes where Will and Addie are together. The steamy scenes in the cabin were especially fun to write. Oh, and the office scene!

Do you have any quirky writing habits? (lucky mugs, cats on laps, etc.)

I love to sit outside on my patio and write. It’s covered, so even when the weather is inclement, I have a nice, dry space to type away the day. My three rescue pups love to hang by my side all day while I work.

Do you have a motto, quote, or philosophy you live by?

Find the positive. Even when times get hard, there’s always a way to look for the positive.

If you could choose one thing for readers to remember after reading your book, what would it be?

I really just hope that readers find a fun, sexy escape with the book. Life can be hard, and finding those brief moments of escape is so important.

Interview with Tilly Wallace, Author of Seams Like Murder

What's the story behind the story? What inspired you to write Seams Like Murder?

I was going through some difficult times and life felt too hard. In search of comfort, I returned to somewhere I had been really happy - Wellington, New Zealand! It brought back so many memories to set a book where I used to live and around my old haunts.

If you had to pick theme songs for the main characters of Seams Like Murder, what would they be?

Look for the silver lining. A popular song in 1919 about finding the sunny side of life, which matches Grace’s outlook.

What's your favorite genre to read? Is it the same as your favorite genre to write?

Historical fantasy and mystery and my device is groaning with the number of them in my TBR pile!

What books are on your TBR pile right now?

Many of the books waiting for me are all part of long-running series. My favourites are: Elizabeth Peters for her Amelia Peabody mysteries with Egyptology at their heart. CS Harris and her Sebastian St Cyr mysteries, set in Regency England and the hero is swoon-worthy! Deanna Raybourn and her Veronica Speedwell. Mysteries, these are set in the Victorian era and I adore the unconventional hero.

What scene in your book was your favorite to write?

I don’t have a favourite scene. I enjoyed walking the streets alongside Grace in my head, as it brought back so many memories.

Do you have any quirky writing habits? (lucky mugs, cats on laps, etc.)

No - I’m terribly boring. Give me coffee and music and I’m good to go!

Do you have a motto, quote, or philosophy you live by?

Vintage magic, found family. That encapsulates my love of history, sprinkling a touch of magic through life, and embracing the people who matter.

If you could choose one thing for readers to remember after reading your book, what would it be?

It’s not so much what I want them to remember, as what I want them to feel. Finishing one of my books should leave the reader with a sense of comfort, as though a good friend dropped by and curled up on the sofa next to you for a chat 🙂

Interview with Barbara Nolan, Author of Wicked Addiction

What's the story behind the story? What inspired you to write Wicked Addiction?

I’ve always wanted to write a mafia romance. I started with my MC romance series, Serpents MC Las Vegas, and the mafia characters in the Club Wicked series were born from the MC series. They were originally brought in as sub-characters and my readers were intrigued so I figured what better way to introduce new characters. Although the Club Wicked series starts in Brooklyn, NY it ends in Vegas which of course lends itself to so many other stories.

I have six books planned for the Club Wicked series, about the three main male characters. Each individual story will start with how they became involved in the mob, and then how that life shaped and molded them. Each character will have their own reasons for associating with the mob and the mob will have a different hold on each of them. I’ve really had fun with their backstories and making each character unique. So it should lend to interesting storylines.

If you had to pick theme songs for the main characters of Wicked Addiction, what would they be?

Born to be Wild.

What's your favorite genre to read? Is it the same as your favorite genre to write?

Romantic suspense!

What books are on your TBR pile right now?

Just the Nicest Couple by Mary Kubica is the most recent.

What scene in your book was your favorite to write?

I loved writing the scene where Samson and Lisbeth first met. She was shy but strong-willed and he was intrigued by what she was holding back. It was a great back and forth scene. I also loved one of the later scenes where Samson stands up to the mob boss. I feel the dialogue is very realistic and I loved how the mob boss subtly tells Samson that there’s no getting out of the mob and how Samson internalizes this information. The whole scene was edgy, sad, and a bit soul-crushing.

Do you have any quirky writing habits? (lucky mugs, cats on laps, etc.)

I write in my favorite chair in my bedroom instead of a desk.

Do you have a motto, quote, or philosophy you live by?

Reading is a luxury, writing is a necessity.

If you could choose one thing for readers to remember after reading your book, what would it be?

That they felt transported to the world I've created.

Interview with LK Wollett, Author of The Proposals

What's the story behind the story? What inspired you to write The Proposals?

The Ketubah is a Jewish betrothal ceremony and many compare it to Jesus leaving Earth and returning to receive His 'bride', the church.

What's your favorite genre to read? Is it the same as your favorite genre to write?

Books that explain what Biblical authors were trying to communicate.

What books are on your TBR pile right now?

TBD

What scene in your book was your favorite to write?

The ending.

Do you have a motto, quote, or philosophy you live by?

Mark 12:30-31 - "...love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the first commandment. And the second is like, namely this, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. "

If you could choose one thing for readers to remember after reading your book, what would it be?

God is real, the Bible is true, the focus is Jesus.
