The Story Behind One Bossy Disaster by Nicole Snow

The Story Behind One Bossy Disaster by Nicole Snow

Who asked for the perfect blend of lighthearted highjinks and angsty, oh-so-serious hearts begging to be healed? Because that's exactly what I'm serving up in One Bossy Disaster, my latest grumpy-sunshine romance with a deliciously unlikely couple and a boatload of cute animals.

Shepherd Foster has a hundred problems on his plate and he's swept up in a scandal. He doesn't need one more in a bright, sassy, totally too young for him influencer. He's only paired up with her after agreeing to his assistant's harebrained reputation salvaging scheme. And when he sees that she's the same nosy brat who tried to get up in his business, his first instinct is to fire her on the spot.

Luck is a strange creature Destiny Lancaster can't figure out. Landing the prized influencer gig for Home Shepherd, a prestigious home security company, seemed like her big break. It comes with a massive charity prize to the animal conservation work that owns her heart. Only, it also comes with something else—a repeat encounter with a man she thought she'd never see again.

The same rude, older, atrociously handsome suit who snarled at her for trying to go a good deed. The same man she'll be calling “boss” and biting her tongue the whole time. The same insufferable, moody billionaire god she'd never fall for in a hundred thousand years—if only fate didn't have other plans to throw them together in the wildest ways.

And I promise you it's a stormy, steamy, bantery, and stunning ride to the very last chapter. This story will shred your heart and glue it back together better than it was going in. If you love your enemies-to-lovers books with a big splash of the age gap trope and opposites attract, this book be your catnip. Grab One Bossy Disaster now while it's free with Kindle Unlimited.

Interview with Ivy Davis, Author of Ruthless Union

What's the story behind the story? What inspired you to write Ruthless Union?

I was inspired by Beauty and the Beast to write my book. It’s my favorite fairytale and any chance I get to draw inspiration from it, I do. I wanted something passionate and angsty and that helped me achieve it with my book.

If you had to pick theme songs for the main characters of Ruthless Union, what would they be?

I’m a huge fan of Lana del Rey and I think her song How to Disappear makes a great theme song for this book. It’s a more lighthearted song that really speaks to the fear of someone leaving you but deciding to stay because love is worth it. Even though Ruthless Union isn’t super lighthearted, there’s a sense of hope to the story that I think is beautiful and encapsulates this feeling.

What's your favorite genre to read? Is it the same as your favorite genre to write?

I honestly love to read many different genres but I do love a good thriller/horror novel, which is probably why I love writing mafia romances because it’s a blend of romance and slight thrills. I used to love to read romance but now that I write it, I don’t read it as often but I still love a good love story.

What books are on your TBR pile right now?

The top book on my TBR pile right now is Queen of Thieves by Beezy Marsh and right below that is The Book of Cold Cases by Simone St. James.

What scene in your book was your favorite to write?

My favorite scene to write in my book was this one moment where the two leads interact for the first time. Marco doesn’t want Emilia to see him so he remains behind her while they talk but it’s such an intimate scene because they don’t see each other. He touches her face and it’s quite intense for how simple it is. I loved writing this because it’s different from anything else I’ve written.

Do you have any quirky writing habits? (lucky mugs, cats on laps, etc.)

I honestly don’t have any quirky writing habits. (I feel so boring haha). I do my normal morning routine – workout, shower, eat – and then I start writing. I outline everything so that helps me get right into the zone of writing and once I’m in it, I get absorbed into the world I’m creating and can’t think about anything else.

Do you have a motto, quote, or philosophy you live by?

The philosophy I live by is – take it one day at a time, one chapter at a time. It’s easy to get overwhelmed by writing a book so by taking it each day and one chapter at a time, it makes it so much easier. That’s also where outlining helps me out so much. It makes it easier to focus on one chapter at a time.

If you could choose one thing for readers to remember after reading your book, what would it be?

One thing I’d want readers to remember after reading my book is that past trauma doesn’t define you. That you can find happiness even in the toughest of times and that you can open yourself up to love because everyone is deserving of it.

Interview with Reed Logan Westgate, Author of Soulstealer Exile

What's the story behind the story? What inspired you to write Soulstealer Exile?

The Soulstealer series was driven by the many fans of the Baku Trilogy who simply fell in love with the enigmatic necromancer Oxivius. Soulstealer Exile is the end cap on Oxivius' journey leading up to the events of the first book in the Baku Series. It sees him come full circle to become the lord and master of the Necropolis.

If you had to pick theme songs for the main characters of Soulstealer Exile, what would they be?

I picture Oxivius with a back drop of Bonnie Tyler’s Holding out for a hero.

What's your favorite genre to read? Is it the same as your favorite genre to write?

Urban fantasy has definitely become my favorite genre. Growing up I mainly read fantasy and mystery books, as I got older pop culture shows like Buffy and Supernatural turned my interest more to the Urban Fantasy genre and I have been having a blast writing it ever since.

What books are on your TBR pile right now?

That’s a really long list, but I’ll narrow it down to the top handful of front runners. Bob the Wizard, Dyer Street Punk Witches, Deathless Beast, and The Legend of Tawhiri.

What scene in your book was your favorite to write?

There are multiple scenes where the moments between Valeria and Oxivius that have been building for the past two books really pay off. Definitely be prepared for an emotional ride.

Do you have any quirky writing habits? (lucky mugs, cats on laps, etc.)

I write mainly on weekends as my work week is pretty crazy. I start with a quick jump through the shower and a cold Mean Bean Monster Java. My lab-dane mix, Ace, usually crawls under my desk and lays across my feet. He is totally my writing buddy and will snuggle for hours as I type away.

Do you have a motto, quote, or philosophy you live by?

Probably my favorite quote from my first book. “That’s the secret, love. It’s not about finding what you’re searching for…it’s about valuing what you find.”

If you could choose one thing for readers to remember after reading your book, what would it be?

Oxivius isn’t a monster. He very well could be. The world wants him to be. It would be easier for him to just give in and be the monster that society wants him to be. He is a man because he chooses to be. Oxivius overcomes all his challenges, all his obstacles, because of the voices like Valeria who tell him he can be more.

Never underestimate the power you give someone by believing in them.

Interview with Lori Robbins, Author of Murder in Fourth Position

What's the story behind the story? What inspired you to write Murder in Fourth Position?

I was itching to write a mystery set on Broadway, with all its glamor and grunge, and I finally got there with Murder in Fourth Position. Murderous motives weren’t hard to come by in a world filled with drama, both onstage and off!

If you had to pick theme songs for the main characters of Murder in Fourth Position, what would they be?

"Popular" from the show Wicked is the perfect theme for this book, because social media, gossip, and the performers' reputations play a central role.

What's your favorite genre to read? Is it the same as your favorite genre to write?

I’m a dedicated armchair detective, which is why mysteries are my favorite genre, both to read and to write. There’s nothing more satisfying than solving a murder from the comfort of your home. And if there’s a bit of suspense and tension along with those carefully placed clues, so much the better!

What books are on your TBR pile right now?

I’ve been reading a bunch of lesser-known Golden Age mysteries, like Mary Roberts Rhinehart’s The Circular Staircase. Also on the pile: The Hollywood Spy, by Susan Elia MacNeal, and The Raging Storm, by Ann Cleeves.

What scene in your book was your favorite to write?

The second-to-last chapter, where Leah confronts the killer, was so much fun to write. In it, I tie together a series of clues that lead my protagonist to this inevitable showdown.

Do you have any quirky writing habits? (lucky mugs, cats on laps, etc.)

I am capable of drinking an enormous amount of coffee when the writing is going well. The same condition applies when things aren’t going according to plan.

Do you have a motto, quote, or philosophy you live by?

It's always better to write something, as opposed to writing nothing.

If you could choose one thing for readers to remember after reading your book, what would it be?

It’s tempting—and self-defeating—to define ourselves and others by what we do, as opposed to who we are.

Interview with Sarah Forester Davis, Author of Dallas & Georgia

What's the story behind the story? What inspired you to write Dallas & Georgia?

I’ve always wanted to write a story about best friends trying to figure out what to do after they’ve fallen in love with each other. I wanted to show how their friendship has grown over the years, and how love can be shown in numerous different ways. Doing this, while throwing in a hilarious family dynamic, makes for a really good read!

If you had to pick theme songs for the main characters of Dallas & Georgia, what would they be?

Wonderwall by Oasis.

What's your favorite genre to read? Is it the same as your favorite genre to write?

Young adult and new adult are my favorite genres to read. These are the same genres I write as well.

What books are on your TBR pile right now?

I don’t have any books currently on my TBR list because I’m trying to finish writing my next book. As soon as I’m done, though, I’ll take the time to read!

What scene in your book was your favorite to write?

Any scene that involves the whole family being together is hilarious, but my favorite scene between Dallas and Georgia would be when they kiss for the first time.

Do you have any quirky writing habits? (lucky mugs, cats on laps, etc.)

I actually write best while road tripping. I bring my laptop with me wherever I go and write from the passenger’s seat in my Suburban. At home, I need to have coffee. I feel like I can’t write without a cup of coffee staring at me.

Do you have a motto, quote, or philosophy you live by?

Live every day like it’s your last.

If you could choose one thing for readers to remember after reading your book, what would it be?

Friendship is truly beautiful. Whether that friendship turns into something more or not.

Interview with Susan Coventry, Author of It's Only Love

What's the story behind the story? What inspired you to write It's Only Love?

My readers inspired me to write this book. I’ve published three other novels with the same trope—older woman, younger man—and they’ve been very popular. I wanted to give my readers another story that falls into this category.

What's your favorite genre to read? Is it the same as your favorite genre to write?

As a romance author, I love to read other romance novels. However, I also enjoy historical fiction, general fiction, and suspense.

What books are on your TBR pile right now?

So many! I have a small bookcase dedicated to my TBR books, and I keep adding more!

What scene in your book was your favorite to write?

I really enjoyed writing the scenes in the bookstore owned by the heroine, Charlotte. Aside from being an author, owning a bookstore would be my dream job.

Do you have any quirky writing habits? (lucky mugs, cats on laps, etc.)

I’m not sure this is quirky, but I do my best writing alone and in silence. You would never find me writing in a public place.

Do you have a motto, quote, or philosophy you live by?

My favorite motto is slow and steady wins the race. I apply this to all aspects of life, including writing. I would rather turn out a quality product than rush to finish it.

If you could choose one thing for readers to remember after reading your book, what would it be?

After reading this, and all my books, I hope readers are smiling. My books are lighthearted, and that’s how I want people to feel reading them.

Interview with Michael Woudenberg, Author of Paradox

What's the story behind the story? What inspired you to write Paradox?

It started about five years ago when I was part of an online group called Mixed Mental Arts. The idea was to grapple with the complex problems of life and that meant starting with the most complex problem; what it means to be human. It blended psychology, biology, sociology, and more in a way that was focused on becoming better humans. My goal was to take these concepts and make them more interesting and accessible to everyone. A favorite genre of mine, Science Fiction, provided a wonderful canvas to begin and AI made a great literary foil to explore.

If you had to pick theme songs for the main characters of Paradox, what would they be?

Me First And The Gimme Gimmes ~ Somewhere Over the Rainbow

What's your favorite genre to read? Is it the same as your favorite genre to write?

I like SciFi and I like Fantasy. Books 3 and 4 of The Singularity Chronicles will be closer to Fantasy than Sci Fi though Paradox and Book 2 are fully Sci Fi

What books are on your TBR pile right now?

I've been chewing through a web serial titled The Wandering Inn for a while and I've got a pile of psychology and sociology books in queue.

What scene in your book was your favorite to write?

I think the one where they actually animate the AI and who was accidentally involved.

Do you have any quirky writing habits? (lucky mugs, cats on laps, etc.)

I'm a binge writer. I'm pretty straight forward but sometimes I'll write a paragraph and sometimes I'll write four chapters.

Do you have a motto, quote, or philosophy you live by?

Good writing should surprise the author.

If you could choose one thing for readers to remember after reading your book, what would it be?

I'd want to know more about what makes humans unique from AI and cause them to wonder which side they'd pick in the conflict.

Interview with Samuel Morris Jr., Author of The Outbreak

What's the story behind the story? What inspired you to write The Outbreak?

Before I was a writer, I was a music artist. I had some success, but I decided to pursue a different creative outlet. Writing was the obvious choice for me. I love all forms of entertainment. Why not try it myself?

One of my favorite shows is The Walking Dead. I read the comics and played the games as well. I love how the zombies are a threat, but not the star of the story. The relationships between the characters are the actual stars. That was a big inspiration for how I told this story. I didn’t want to use zombies though. I wanted to do something different with the monsters and the setting. Thus, the setting for the book is 2049, with mutants that have neon blue skin, and act uniquely compared to your standard walker.

If you had to pick theme songs for the main characters of The Outbreak, what would they be?

I wish I knew what music in 2049 will sound like. Their favorite songs in 2023 would be: James “Un-Thinkable” by Alicia Keys, Robert “How to Be a Star” by Malachiii, Sofia “Potential” by Annale, and Liam “Numb” by Linkin Park.

What's your favorite genre to read? Is it the same as your favorite genre to write?

If I had to pick two, Science Fiction and Fantasy are the genres I read the most of. However, I like good stories more than specific genres. I tried to reflect that in my storytelling. At its heart, the book is a Sci-Fi book. There are touches of horror, action, comedy, and a love story as well.

What books are on your TBR pile right now?

“Apocalypse Now Now” by Charlie Human, "The Way of Kings” by Brandon Sanderson, “Dreamsongs” by George R.R. Martin, “Metro 2033” by Dmitry Glukhovsky, “Jurassic Park” by Michael Crichton, “James Moriarty, Consulting Criminal” by Andy Weir, “Invasion” by Sean Platt & Johnny B. Truant, “1984” by George Orwell, and everything J.F. Penn has written.

What scene in your book was your favorite to write?

There are so many scenes to choose from. If I had to pick a scene from book one, it’s the introduction of The Reapers in Chapter One. They tie the story together in many ways. My favorite scenes to write in the trilogy, however, are in book two. I can’t wait for people to read those two moments.

Do you have any quirky writing habits? (lucky mugs, cats on laps, etc.)

I put together a soundtrack of music that I write to. It fits the mood of the book. I’ve already done the same for my next trilogy. It will be a good reference for composers when they become games, TV shows, or movies. I’m speaking it into existence.

Do you have a motto, quote, or philosophy you live by?

I can do anything I set my mind to with GOD by my side.

If you could choose one thing for readers to remember after reading your book, what would it be?

There are many twists, turns, and reveals in all three books. Books two and three are going through final edits as we speak. They’ll both release in 2024.
