Interview with Aurora Winter, Author of The Secret Multiverse Academy (Magic Mystery and the Multiverse Book 2)

What's the story behind the story? What inspired you to write The Secret Multiverse Academy (Magic Mystery and the Multiverse Book 2)?

Ever since I read The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe by C.S. Lewis, I have wanted to write a fantasy book. That book made me want to be a better person simply by reading it. I loved that the hero, Lucy, was a girl and that she had complicated relationships with her siblings. Just like me.

How did you come up with the idea?

As a child, I suffered terribly with asthma and was hospitalized when I couldn’t breathe. Now, as an adult, I champion environmental causes and free speech. I weaved these passions into a tale that challenges readers to cherish what we often overlook: health, clean air, free expression, and the unbreakable bonds between siblings.

How did you create the characters?

I wanted to create two unique and contrasting heroes. Zackary is a pessimist recovering from cancer and makes an unlikely—and therefore even more delightful—hero. His sister, Ana, is an optimist. In surprising ways, they both get what they want as they have their first marvelous adventure in this Multiverse.

Is this a good gift for young adults?

Absolutely! While many books aimed at young adult readers contain content that is explicit, mean-spirited, or dystopian, this is a fantasy series that parents and teachers can confidently share with tween and teen readers. Magic, Mystery and the Multiverse shines a light on important social issues worthy of discussion. It showcases the value of courage, love, loyalty, family, and friendship.

Do you have any tips for authors?

As you’re writing your book, think about books that have inspired you, traumatic experiences that shaped you, and things that you care deeply about. Consider who your ideal reader is and write for that specific audience. Write every day. Most of all, don’t forget to enjoy the process!

Interview with Charlene Williams, Author of The Alchemy of Bridges

What's the story behind the story? What inspired you to write The Alchemy of Bridges?

I had a vision of a scene; a depressed, desperate man wandering to Coney Island. It was started as a short story but I found that I wanted to expand on the two characters and give them more life and a connection.

If you had to pick theme songs for the main characters of The Alchemy of Bridges, what would they be?

"Bridge Over Troubled Water" by Simon & Garfunkel.

What's your favorite genre to read? Is it the same as your favorite genre to write?

Paranormal / Supernatural / Mystery / Detective.

What books are on your TBR pile right now?

Wrong Place, Wrong Time / The Nest / You Like it Darker.

What scene in your book was your favorite to write?

The entire epilogue. It was fun to bring it all together and then I had fun writing the second half of the epilogue, although I can't give away why!

Do you have any quirky writing habits? (lucky mugs, cats on laps, etc.)

If it's daytime, it must be coffee in my Hogwarts mug. If it's nighttime, it must be green tea in my Paris mug.

Do you have a motto, quote, or philosophy you live by?

Whatever you're going to do, do it now.

If you could choose one thing for readers to remember after reading your book, what would it be?

That it's possible to change and that one person can definitely make a difference.

Interview with Matthew Newson, Author of The Realm Shifter

What's the story behind the story? What inspired you to write The Realm Shifter?

Biblical stories about spiritual warfare have always intrigued me since the day I gave my life to the Lord. Specifically, 2nd Corinthians 12:2, where Paul says, ‘I know a man in Christ who fourteen years ago – whether in the body I do not know, or out of the body I do not know, God knows – such a man was caught up to the third heaven.’ That Scripture was the inspiration for The Realm Shifter. Often I ponder what it would be like to travel back and forth in the spirit world in service to the Lord. All while maintaining my life in the natural world. Through the pages of The Realm Shifter, I hope to capture that Biblical inspiration and prompt readers to imagine the fullness of God’s world.

What's your favorite genre to read? Is it the same as your favorite genre to write?

My favorite genre is American military historical nonfiction. I realize it’s completely different than what I write. I also read Christian nonfiction books capturing people’s accounts with the Lord, angels, and Heaven. I write Christian fiction novels because God told me to.

What books are on your TBR pile right now?

Band of Brothers by Stephen E. Ambrose, Beyond Band of Brothers by Richard Winters, and Heaven by Randy Alcorn.

What scene in your book was your favorite to write?

My favorite scene to write in The Realm Shifter was when the hero of the story, Dan, meets the primary antagonist, Vengeance, for the first time face-to-face. It’s in that moment that Dan learns just how much the demon had interfered in his life. Their exchange was as intense as it was enjoyable to write, and I feel it’s a picture of the spiritual warfare we all face in our own personal lives.

Do you have any quirky writing habits? (lucky mugs, cats on laps, etc.)

I have a Boston Terrier named Mr. Wiggles who is my writing buddy. Mr. Wiggles will either lay in my lap or on his dog bed on my desk while I work.

Do you have a motto, quote, or philosophy you live by?

Never give up. I’ve faced a lot of difficulties and setbacks in my life, but I never stopped pursuing my goals.

If you could choose one thing for readers to remember after reading your book, what would it be?

No matter how many mistakes you’ve made, or how difficult things may be for you, God is there and has a plan for your life. Trust and accept Jesus to live life abundantly.

Interview with Tasmin Turner, Author of Explosive Reprisals (Crime Scene Kosovo Book 3)

What's the story behind the story? What inspired you to write Explosive Reprisals (Crime Scene Kosovo Book 3)?

I drew inspiration for Explosive Reprisals from the five years I spent working with an international organization in Kosovo. Living in this distinct, post-conflict environment with its complex mix of ethnic and religious identities, was a stark contrast to my life in New Zealand. The resilience of the Kosovar people after the conflict with Serbia deeply moved me and laid the foundation for my fictionalized Kosovo. In the novel, I created a fictional international organization to navigate the complexities of peacekeeping and law in Kosovo. While the setting reflects some real experiences, the characters are purely fictional. Kit Chase, a young New Zealand lawyer, arrives unprepared for the challenges ahead. Her impulsiveness and refusal to follow the rules often get her into trouble but also make her a sharp investigator. In Explosive Reprisals, Kit takes on her most dangerous case yet in book 3 of the series, unraveling a web of crime and corruption after a police officer’s murder. But beyond the action, the story also explores Kit's personal journey toward empowerment—balancing her career, personal life, and financial independence as the lines between right and wrong blur.

If you had to pick theme songs for the main characters of Explosive Reprisals (Crime Scene Kosovo Book 3), what would they be?

Kit Chase's theme song could be "Control" by Zoe Wees.

What's your favorite genre to read? Is it the same as your favorite genre to write?

Mystery thrillers. Yes 🙂

What books are on your TBR pile right now?

I'm diving into Secrets of the Lost Ledgers (The Glass Library) by C.J. Archer, where magic and mystery intertwine in a captivating narrative. Intrigue also takes center stage with The Vienna Connection by Dick Rosano, keeping me on the edge of my seat. I also love the setting in Vienna, Austria, where I lived for many years. For a shift in perspective, I’m exploring the metaphysical world in Reality Transurfing by Vadim Zeland, and for a lighter break, I’ve added The Accidental Dating Experiment by Lauren Blakely, a contemporary romance that brings humor and warmth.

What scene in your book was your favorite to write?

One of my favorite scenes to write takes place in a Kosovo Orthodox monastery, where Kit Chase seeks enlightenment during a secret midnight ritual. The scene takes an unexpected turn when Kit uncovers a trafficking ring dealing in stolen cultural artifacts, forcing her to rely on both her intellect and inner strength to take down the criminals. I enjoyed writing this scene because it blends spirituality with action, allowing Kit to tap into a deeper part of herself while still doing what she does best — fighting crime.

Do you have any quirky writing habits? (lucky mugs, cats on laps, etc.)

I write my best with a freshly brewed cup of oolong tea beside me. There’s something about the ritual of steeping the tea and the calming aroma that helps me settle into a creative flow.

Do you have a motto, quote, or philosophy you live by?

I often think of my father's motto: persevero, meaning "persevere." For me, it translates into, "I'm not a quitter." That mindset gives me the strength to push forward, whether in my writing or in life, helping me stay focused on achieving my goals.

If you could choose one thing for readers to remember after reading your book, what would it be?

My central message to readers is the power of self-belief and commitment. I hope readers will be inspired by the narrative to embrace their inner strength, recognizing that with perseverance, they can surmount any obstacle and realize their dreams. Life’s limitations are often the ones we impose on ourselves.

Interview with Bodie Summers, Author of The Cursed Dragon

What's the story behind the story? What inspired you to write The Cursed Dragon?

With my love for fantasy romance books and the tales of Ares and Aphrodite, it was the best combination I could think of. I love how the book turned out and how we got out first glimpse into this world.

What's your favorite genre to read? Is it the same as your favorite genre to write?

My favorite genre to read is dark fantasy romance and yes, it’s also my favorite to write. But when I finish a fantasy book, I like to write contemporary romance stories to clear my head before I jump into the next fantasy world.

What books are on your TBR pile right now?

I just finished Moon Touched and Star Cursed is my next read!

What scene in your book was your favorite to write?

That’s a good one and hard to answer without spoiling anything, but I’ll try. My favorite scene is a moment in the book where the MMC finally realizes what he’s about to lose. He’s such a stubborn man and this moment is where he finally stops hiding his feelings and opens up.

Do you have any quirky writing habits? (lucky mugs, cats on laps, etc.)

I write at the dining table and I always need to have my feet on the chair across from me. I never realized this until the chair was moved and I kept trying and I couldn’t find the right position, so yeah, I think that’s my quirk.

Do you have a motto, quote, or philosophy you live by?

I don’t think I do, but there’s one thought that always stick by me when I create a new fantasy world and that’s to write for myself. I know there are a lot of tips and tricks to write what sells, but my love for fantasy takes over in that department and I truly write what I want to write even if that means my stories are different from the others, have different rules for example or twists that we don’t usually see in the theme’s I have in my books.

If you could choose one thing for readers to remember after reading your book, what would it be?

Follow your own instincts, your heart, as Rodi did.
