With Summer right around the corner, you may be shopping for some good summer reads to bring on vacation. With their exciting and heart-warming stories, romance books are perfect to bring on any trip. Some truly great romance books have already been released this year, so you shouldn’t have trouble finding a great novel to keep you company by the pool. Stephanie Evanovich

Karen Robards

If you like your romance with a whole lot of suspense, then Darkness might be a good summer read for you. When a plane crashes down on the remote Attu Island of Alaska, Dr. Gina Sullivan must do whatever she can to save the sole survivor, James Callahan. Things don’t get much better from there, and the two strangers find themselves on the run from a blood-thirsty murderer. RT Book Reviews says that Robards has a knack for “fantastic storytelling,” so you definitely won’t be disappointed.

Doing it Over

Catherine Bybee

Doing It Over is the first book in a trilogy based off of yearbook superlatives (i.e. most likely to…),  and it follows a group of friends and what their life is like after graduation. Even though Melanie Bartlett was voted most likely to succeed, she’s now found herself as a single mom who is struggling to make ends meet. She goes back to her hometown to be with her close friends, and in the process she runs into the calm and charming Wyatt Gibson. RT Book Reviews says that this book is “jam-packed with animated characters,” and it addresses a subject to which we can all relate.

What We Find

Robyn Carr

What We Find is great for romance and women’s fiction readers who like their books to be thought-provoking and complex. The main character Maggie Sullivan is struggling neurosurgeon who returns to her hometown when things at work start getting tough. Life is simpler in Sullivan’s Crossing, but it might get a bit more complicated when she meets Cal Jones. According to the Library Journal, this book has an “uncommon emotional complexity [that makes] this uplifting story a heart-grabber that won’t let readers go until the very end.”

Jana Aston

Jana Aston is relatively new to the book writing game, but she seems like she’s been doing this for years. Many readers considered her debut novel, Wrong, one of the best romance books of 2015. Just by the title, you can tell that Lauren Blakely’s newest release will be a good time. Mister O is a romantic comedy about Nick Hammer, who claims to be a “superhero of pleasure.” What will the player do when a girl comes into his life who actually makes him want to settle down? Romance author Max Monroe said this book is “hilarious, sexy, and downright delicious.”

Me Before You & After You

Jojo Moyes

If you cried while reading The Fault in Our Stars, you probably won’t get away from these books without shedding a tear or two. Me Before You starts off the series, and it follows a ordinary girl as she takes a job and falls in love with a broken man. Then comes After Youwhich tells how the girl rebuilds herself after losing the one she loved the most. These books could have been a tragic love story, but Moyes is able to inspire readers to follow their hearts and live life fearlessly. Me Before You has been made into a movie that is coming out on June 3rd in the US, so this would be the perfect read for Memorial Day weekend.
