What's the story behind the story? What inspired you to write this book?
The Trip Chronicles evolved over the course of several months, from an initial adjacent story about a group of adventurers and a mimic into a series all its own. And then this series caused me to rewrite the adjacent series, too. So now there are two series in the same world, with different characters and plots. This book is #2 of the Trip Chronicles, with all the other books free on Amazon for reader enjoyment!
What's your favorite genre to read? Is it the same as your favorite genre to write?
Fantasy and science fiction, for sure! And yes, this is my favorite to write, too.
What books are on your TBR pile right now?
Pretty much any book by Alan Dean Foster, and also Raymond Feist.
What scene in your book was your favorite to write?
In Chapter 6, “The East Gate,” we first meet up with Barnaby, the Mimic from the Resonance Series. This tie-in, along with his humorous and hungry nature, made this one of my favorite scenes from the book.
Do you have any quirky writing habits? (lucky mugs, cats on laps, etc.)
I like putting in little Easter eggs in many of my books—they could be certain types of dogs or references to fae and fairies. In this particular set, these don’t exist, since we have a lot of really humorous things and events.
Do you have a motto, quote or philosophy you live by?
When life gives you mimic chests, make lemonade—just make sure the teeth don’t bite the cup.
If you could choose one thing for readers to remember after reading your book, what would it be?
Mimics aren’t always bad. Hungry, yes, but not necessarily evil.
