What's the story behind the story? What inspired you to write this book?
I was inspired by my love of atmospheric, closed-setting mysteries, as in books by Robert Thurgood (Death in Paradise, The Marlowe Mysteries), modern-set shows such as Man on the Inside or The Residence, and by my absolute obsession with the reality show The Traitors!
If you had to pick theme songs for the main characters of your book, what would they be?
If I had to pick a theme song for my main character, Jenny Hawthorne, it would be “The Climb” by Miley Cyrus, and for her husband Kyle, Bruno Mars’s “Count on Me.”
What's your favorite genre to read? Is it the same as your favorite genre to write?
My favorite genres to read are mysteries, legal thrillers, and domestic suspense.
What books are on your TBR pile right now?
On my TBR pile are Riley Sager’s The Unknown, The Mystery Writer by Sulari Gentill, and You’ll Be Sorry by Lisa Gardner. I recently finished and loved Mad Mabel by Sally Hepworth.
What scene in your book was your favorite to write?
I liked writing the final reveal scene and the chase.
Do you have a motto, quote or philosophy you live by?
Motto or Philosophy: Always have something on the horizon to look forward to.
If you could choose one thing for readers to remember after reading your book, what would it be?
It’s never too late to acquire your dream even if you’ve been following a different path.
