What's the story behind the story? What inspired you to write this book?
I was looking at role-playing games like Gamma World and Mutant Year Zero, which got me going on the story.
If you had to pick theme songs for the main characters of your book, what would they be?
For Artemis Moon: “Breakaway” by Kelly Clarkson
Tengu: “Kung Fu Fighting” by Carl Douglas
Tesla: “We’re Not Gonna Take It” by Twisted Sister
Abyss: The theme from The Terminator
What's your favorite genre to read? Is it the same as your favorite genre to write?
Science fiction, of course. It also inspired me to start writing in the first place. I figured that if all those guys could do it, so could I.
What books are on your TBR pile right now?
The Silo series by Hugh Howey
Into the Gigaverse by M. L. Tilford
Pod Land by Anthony Raymond
What scene in your book was your favorite to write?
The scene where Abyss, the antagonist, is introduced was reminiscent of the introduction of the T-800 in The Terminator.
Do you have any quirky writing habits? (lucky mugs, cats on laps, etc.)
I like to read as many as three books at the same time while working on as many as three different projects at the same time, all while working a full-time job.
Do you have a motto, quote or philosophy you live by?
Life is full of surprises, so keep your eyes open because you never know what you’ll see next.
If you could choose one thing for readers to remember after reading your book, what would it be?
That no matter how bad things get, there is always hope if you strive for it.
