What's the story behind the story? What inspired you to write this book?
I graduated with a degree in electronics in the 1970s and have always been fascinated by the advances and challenges posed by technology. This book follows my earlier book, Softkill, in that genre. I believe that artificial intelligence takes an unprecedented leap forward for all of us and society in general, and Artificial Dragon captures this in a fast-paced suspense story that reflects the many issues posed by A.I.
If you had to pick theme songs for the main characters of your book, what would they be?
I would use the theme song from Mission: Impossible, especially the old television version.
What's your favorite genre to read? Is it the same as your favorite genre to write?
I like suspense novels and adventure books. I have always enjoyed Agatha Christie, Jack London, and Jules Verne. I also like to read historical novels, such as those by Ron Chernow and Erik Larson.
What books are on your TBR pile right now?
I am rereading A Tale of Two Cities by Dickens and Ron Chernow’s Washington, as well as his Grant. Of course, I have a couple of Agatha Christie novels in the queue as well.
What scene in your book was your favorite to write?
My favorite scene to write in Artificial Dragon is in the second-to-last chapter, where Megan and her companions realize the extent of the danger they are in and begin their desperate battle to outwit the A.I. menace.
Do you have any quirky writing habits? (lucky mugs, cats on laps, etc.)
Weather permitting, I like to write on my front porch in my rocker. In the winter months, I like to write in a local coffee shop.

If you could choose one thing for readers to remember after reading your book, what would it be?
I hope the suspense stays with them, and of course, I hope they look forward to the next installment of the Megan Burgan series, currently in the works.
