What's the story behind the story? What inspired you to write this book?
In book 4 of the Thunderseeker Chronicles, I wanted to take Jonathan Haymaker to some place he'd never been, and I wanted to bring his animal companion closer to him as they partner up for a harrowing adventure.
If you had to pick theme songs for the main characters of your book, what would they be?
"Rock You Like a Hurricane" by Scorpions.
What's your favorite genre to read? Is it the same as your favorite genre to write?
Fantasy all the way—though I like just about any subgenre, from sword and sorcery to LitRPG, and just about everything in between. For writing, my first love is sword and sorcery, but I like epic fantasy as well, and I have dabbled in LitRPG.
What books are on your TBR pile right now?
The rest of the Stormlight Archive. I just finished Words of Radiance. Yes, I realize I am quite a few years behind in my reading... but trying to catch up!
What scene in your book was your favorite to write?
The end battle scene was my favorite in this one 🙂
Do you have any quirky writing habits? (lucky mugs, cats on laps, etc.)
I dunno if it's quirky per se, but I have a hard time writing if others are in the room, especially if they can see my screen while I am drafting. It makes me too self-conscious.
Do you have a motto, quote or philosophy you live by?
Not exactly, but I try to train hard physically and be kind.
If you could choose one thing for readers to remember after reading your book, what would it be?
To leave a kind review. 🙂 And to make sure to slow down and enjoy the little moments in life. As cliché as that sounds, it's important to note all the little victories, happy moments, and simple pleasures.
