Interview with Layla Ravenburgh, Author of 1000% Business Genius

What's the story behind the story? What inspired you to write this book?

After speaking with countless entrepreneurs and business owners at seminars, I noticed the same problem: people were buying separate courses on productivity, sales, AI, habits, and business growth, but still lacked a clear roadmap. Many told me they wished there was one practical book that combined everything they needed to build and scale a successful business. That inspired me to create 1000% BUSINESS GENIUS—a 5-in-1 business guide packed with actionable strategies, expert tips, exercises, and real-world insights. My goal was simple: help ambitious people save time, work smarter, sell with integrity, and turn knowledge into results. And since everyone learns differently, readers can jump straight to the chapters that matter most to them.

If you had to pick theme songs for the main characters of your book, what would they be? (Meant to be fun. Skip if you need to!)

If this book had a theme song, it would probably be "Best Version of You" — a soundtrack about turning ambition into action, building a business with purpose, and creating a life you’re excited to wake up to every day. After all, the real hero of this book is the reader becoming the most successful version of themselves. 😄📚🚀

What's your favorite genre to read? Is it the same as your favorite genre to write?

I love reading success stories—especially stories about people who overcome difficult circumstances and create an extraordinary future for themselves. I also enjoy nonfiction, personal development, business, and philosophy books that challenge the way we think and act. That’s also my favorite genre to write. My goal is to share practical knowledge that helps people grow, achieve more, and unlock their potential. That’s why this book is built around timeless principles and insights inspired by some of the world’s leading experts in business, productivity, sales, wealth building, and personal development.

What books are on your TBR pile right now?

My reading stack is always a little ambitious! You'll usually find a mix of business, psychology, philosophy, productivity, and innovation books on it. I'm fascinated by ideas that help people grow, think bigger, and turn dreams into reality. What I enjoy most are books that combine timeless wisdom with practical action—because great ideas are inspiring, but applying them is what truly changes lives. 🥰👍🏽

What scene in your book was your favorite to write?

The chapters I enjoyed writing most were the practical sections with exercises, expert tips, and visual examples. I've always believed that you truly understand something when you can explain and apply it yourself. That's why I wanted this book to be more than just information. Every chapter is designed to help readers internalize the principles of business, productivity, sales, and growth through action, not just reading. My goal was to create a book that doesn't simply teach business—it helps people think like entrepreneurs and build something that can grow far beyond what they initially imagined.

Do you have any quirky writing habits? (lucky mugs, cats on laps, etc.)

Haha, absolutely! I think most writers have a few quirky habits. Mine is probably doodling lots of little hearts on a piece of paper while I'm thinking. For some reason, that's often when the best ideas appear. Sometimes a great insight arrives when you stop forcing it and simply let your mind wander for a moment. More often than not, my next big idea starts with a page full of hearts and ends with a page full of notes.🥰

Do you have a motto, quote or philosophy you live by?

Haha, yes, I do! It may sound a little cliché, but my philosophy is: “Enjoy every day as if it were your last, and build today for an even better tomorrow.” Life is too short to spend it waiting for the perfect moment. I believe in appreciating the present while also taking action toward bigger goals. The best future is built one day at a time, and every small step counts.

If you could choose one thing for readers to remember after reading your book, what would it be?

If there's one thing I'd like readers to remember after finishing this book, it's that building a successful business isn't reserved for a select few—it's a skill that can be learned. My goal is for readers to walk away with the confidence, knowledge, and practical tools to think like entrepreneurs, create value, grow strategically, and scale far beyond what they thought was possible. If the book helps someone take their first idea and turn it into a thriving business, then it has done its job.
