Interview with Z.L. Arkadie, author of Enthrall

28 Oct 2019

What can you tell us about your new release, Enthrall?

I believe it’s my best work yet, and was mighty fun to write. I love writing tortured heroes who are not cliche. I hate reading or writing stories that shove square pegs into round holes. This book/trilogy that does not do that and yet still delivers on telling the sort of romance that readers find satisfying.

What books are currently on your nightstand?

I’ve just finished reading “Inside Out” by Demi Moore and before that “Education” by Tara Westover.

What advice would you give your teenage self?

Get therapy sooner! Therapy helped me become less codependent and more self-aware and that has forever changed my life.

If you had an extra hour each day, how would you spend it?

Relaxing after a hard day of work.

What makes your world go round? Why does it bring you joy?

I want to avoid giving a complex author-like answer here so I’ll simply say loving the people in my life, especially when they have birthdays and there’s birthday cake! Why? Because loving people and birthday cake are both so delicious.

What scene in Enthrall was your favorite to write?

I loved writing all the scenes between Spencer and Dr. Sharma. Males are often depicted two-dimensionally. Those scenes aid in allowing my readers to experience Spencer three-dimensionally.
