Interview with Willow Winters, author of Unforgiven

21 Jun 2017

What can you tell us about your new release, Unforgiven?

Well it completely broke me and made me cry for one.  I never intended for the sins and secrets series to be a duet but Jules and Mason’s story needed so much more than one book or even one story could give.  I do see the first book as a complete story and I was shattered when I wrote the last chapter and stole their happily ever after from them. I carried that emotion with me as I wrote their second book and I love how it turned out.

What’s on your top 5 list for the best books you’ve ever read?

– M Never’s Decadence After Dark Series.

– LP Lovell and Stevie Cole’s Wrong/Wrath series

– Sylvia Day’s Crossfire Series

– And… I’m saying it … Twilight and Fifty Shades of Gray — and they’re sharing a spot so I can give another book (she says hoping she can cheat like this)

– Ella James Sloth

I also loved Belle Aurora’s Raw, Jade West’s Dirty Bad series, Monster in His Eyes (series) by JM Darhower, The Kane Trilogy from Stylo Fantome, Monster’s in the Dark series from Pepper Winters, CJ Robert’s Captive in the Dark and The Life of Anna by Marrissa Honeycutt (which is not for the faint of heart).  Those are basically all of my top reads EVER that utterly destroyed me and I love them all for it.

Who is your favorite couple from literature?

My favorite couple is difficult to pick… Obviously, I couldn’t even pick 5 books – let alone 1 couple.  If I HAD to do it … I’m going to go with … this is HARD – with a gun to my head I say Tor and Jude.  Both strong characters I absolutely loved.

What’s in your Netflix queue?

I hardly watch TV anymore – but when I do it’s real housewives!

If you had an extra hour each day, how would you spend it?

With my kids – hands down.  They love blocks and story time, so I’d be crosslegged on the floor trying to keep the two from fighting for my extra hour.

What scene in Unforgiven was your favorite to write?

The ending!  I NEEDED it.  It was so emotional and I found a scene so hard to write that I had to go write the ending before I could continue.  So by far – the ending was my favorite, it gave me the feels and made the emotional rollercoaster worth it.

Do you have a motto, quote or philosophy you live by?

YES!! If I can look down and say “cute undies?” check, “shaved legs?” check, “pedicure?” check!  Then I can conquer the world.  … Keeping that in mind, I need to go shave and get a pedi.  The world can wait an hour!
