Interview with Sawyer Bennett, author of Sexy Lies and Rock & Roll

What can you tell us about your new release, Sexy Lies and Rock & Roll?
Sexy Lies and Rock & Roll is a standalone contemporary romance, with a bit of comedy throughout. Evan Scott is a sexy rockstar that is quickly rising to superstardom. Emma Peterson is a prim and proper lawyer, who enjoys burying herself in law books and contract reviews. He needs a lawyer, and she needs his connections to get the job she’s always desired. His conditions? She has to join him on tour for a month, providing legal advice and PR services. Can she resist 30 days of Evan’s charismatic personality and charm?

If Sex, Lies and Rock and Roll is turned into a movie, who would you pick to play Evan Scott?
Oh gosh – Adam Levine, maybe? He’s the definitive picture of a rock star.

Which books would we be surprised to find on your shelves?
Dean Koontz. I have all of his including a specially signed limited edition one.

If you had an extra hour each day, how would you spend it?
With my daughter. She’s not quite three, and she amazes me every day.

What will your next adventure be?
There won’t be any big adventures for a while. I just got back from a week in Disney with 3 grandpas, 2 grandmas, 1 great uncle and a rambunctious toddler. Four of those were on scooters so it was… um… definitely adventurous. My husband and I sipped tequila from flasks the entire time.

You’re hosting a literary dinner party. Which three writers are invited?
I’m assuming this is past or present, so I’d say Harper Lee, Dean Koontz and Kristen Ashley.

What scene in Sexy, Lies and Rock and Roll was your favorite to write?
I don’t know that I had a favorite scene, but my favorite character was Sirius, Emma’s loveable Newfoundland puppy. He kind of stole the show in a few scenes.

Do you have a motto, quote or philosophy you live by?
One motto I’ve always gone by both when I was a practicing trial attorney and now as a writer is, “If it’s not broke, break it.” I like pushing boundaries and thinking outside the box.
