Interview with Lindsay Buroker, Author of The Elf Tangent

30 Mar 2022

What’s the story behind the story? What inspired you to write The Elf Tangent?

I tend to write series with big overarching storylines and lots of characters, but I’m a big fan of SF/F romance stories too. And I’ve long enjoyed stories about elves. The Lord of the Rings kind, not the Keebler kind. It was fun to return to my roots to write an elf romance.

What’s your favorite genre to read? Is it the same as your favorite genre to write?

Science fiction, romance, and fantasy romance!

What books are on your TBR pile right now?

I’m reading The Widow of Rose House, which is a historical romance with a hint of the paranormal, and I’ve just downloaded samples for a number of high fantasy romances. I guess I’m in the mood for love!

What scene in your book was your favorite to write?

The hero and heroine have a quiet moment and a lot of fun dialogue when he’s recovering from an injury and a little loopy on elven pain medicine. I always have lots of action and adventure in my stories, but the quiet moments are my favorites to write.

Do you have any quirky writing habits? (lucky mugs, cats on laps, etc.)

I’m pretty boring, but I write on my laptop and not always at a desk, so I often end up with a dog head slung across my arm or the keys. This can make things a little challenging.

Do you have a motto, quote, or philosophy you live by?

We do not inherit the earth from our ancestors; we borrow it from our children.

If you could choose one thing for readers to remember after reading your book, what would it be?

Unwise actions in the past can make the future challenging, but there’s always hope.
