Interview with Linda Lael Miller, author of The Marriage Season

#1 New York Times Best Selling Author Linda Lael Miller is at it again! Her newest release, The Marriage Season has such colorful characters and sweet romance that you’ll be flipping  that pages straight through until the happily ever after. We wanted to know what inspires her and makes her tick:

Tell us a little bit about your new release, The Marriage Season.

THE MARRIAGE SEASON is the third story in my Brides of Bliss County series, this time featuring Becca “Bex” Stuart and her hunky hero, Tate. Bex has entered into a marriage pact–a sort of experiment in the power of intention–with her best friends, Hadleigh and Melody. The objective? For each of them to meet and marry just the right man. Her friends have succeeded, big-time. Bex, however, has her doubts she’ll be able to hold up her third of the bargain.

How do you like to spend a rainy day?

What a wonderful question! I love to read on a rainy day, play with my art supplies, or cuddle with my pets–Bernice, the 15 year old Yorkie princess, and Jitterbug, my kitty cat.

What fictional literary world would you most like to visit?

Another great question! I think I’d have to choose Hogwarts and other Harry Potteresque points of interest.

Do you listen to anything while you write? If so, what’s your audio of choice?

I listen to music–usually country–while I’m composing the story. When I’m revising or editing, I need complete silence.

What’s the last book you read?

“Visualization for Weight Loss” by Jon Gabriel. Currently, I’m listening to “Gettysburg,” by Stephen Sears.

If you had to pick one place to vacation for the rest of your life, where would you choose?

Tuscany. I would live in a farmhouse with frescoes on the wall and dine under the olive trees in the garden.

When you were a child, what did you want to be when you grew up?

First: Annie Oakley. Second: an astronaut. Since the first was already taken, and the second required too much math, I went for the third: Writer. 🙂

What’s your favorite scene from your book?

I love the fishing scene in THE MARRIAGE SEASON, and also the game of Old Maid.

If you had an extra hour each day, how would you spend it?

Either reading or doing art work.

Do you have a motto, quote or philosophy you live by?

Yes. “Courage is being scared to death and saddling up anyway.” John Wayne
