Interview with Lauren Blakely, author of The What If Guy

29 Jul 2020

What can you tell us about your new release, The What If Guy?

The What If Guy answers a question about the power of eye contact. If you run into someone at a restaurant, a store, on the street, and you have a moment, can it turn into something more? Of course, it also answers the question what happens if you accidentally bang your new boss!

What’s the last book you read?

The last book I read is Ignite by Kim Loraine. It’s a fantastic romance with a firefighting cowboy hero and a spitfire of a heroine who was working through some of her challenges in life on the way to love.

What’s rocking your world this month?

What’s rocking my world this month is the audiobook of Boyfriend Material by Alexis Hall, narrated by Joe Jameson. His narration is fantastic, with just the right nuance and character differentiation and the story is an utter delight. I love every second of it!

What’s in your Netflix queue?

In my Netflix queue is Indian Matchmaking. My husband and I started bingeing it a couple of days ago, and we are absolutely loving the characters, the insight, and the storytelling.

What scene in The What If Guy was your favorite to write?

My favorite scenes in The What If Guy are the ones where Logan and Bryn strip away all the artifices of dating and talk honestly to each other about what they want for the future. As well as the scenes with the cats.
